The venue is lovely, staff were welcoming and the initial savoury morsels as an appetiser were lovely. The bread and whipped butter were divine. We were very excited for a stunning experience for our set course ahead. The black garlic glazed quail entree was delicious...but then everything from there went a bit south. I had the wood-fired Murray cod for main and while the skin was deliciously crispy and well seasoned, the fish itself was bland and the accompaniment was sweet, watery and weirdly unappealing. We had a side of charred potato, sake and miso cream, sesame, nori. Flavours of the cream/nori were nice but the potatoes themselves were average and a little undercooked and hard. There was a melon-based palate cleanser which I personally didn't enjoy but was hopeful for dessert. Unfortunately, it was awful. The Muse Coconut was a mash of a too-thick chocolate dome with coconut done every-which way (water, cream, flakes). It was just a heavy, creamy mash. It would have been better had there even been a coconut ice-cream as a complimentary temperature/texture ingredient to help cut through the otherwise sameness of an overly rich but texturally unappealing dessert. I'd still like to return in a different season to see how the food changes, and I loved the first half of the meal but it unfortunately it lost its "wow factor" by the end.More

From the moment you are greated at the door to the moment you leave, the service is first class. The staff were detailed in their descriptions of the food and cocktails. The dishes were delicious and each course kept getting better and better. I have...attached pictures of all our meals. I would recommend Muse as a definite must for that special occasion.More

This is one of the best restaurants in the country. Food, service, ambience are all spectacular. A special occasion restaurant where you abandon yourself for a whole evening to the culinary journey. Plan your trip to the Hunter around a booking at this restaurant .......it is that good.More

Restaurant ambience was gorgeous. Service was fabulous - thanks Curtis and the other sommeliers. The food was amazing and well deserved of being a 2 hatted restaurant. We were celebrating my husband's 50th birthday and they created a special chocolate treat just for him too....Such a wonderful experience all up.More

The service here was amazing! We booked a late dinner for 6 for a hens night. The restaurant called us the morning of the dinner and offered us a semi-private space, a beautiful mini cake for the bride and organised cocktails on arrival! Our waiter...was very friendly and was a great host, and the food was unique as expected! The restaurant was quite dark (we couldn't take any photos of ourselves or the food), but this created an intimate atmosphere that we all loved. Thanks for a great night Muse!!More

Have been looking forward to Muse for some time now, plenty of great write ups and reviews. Happy to report that the hype is all real and worth the visit. Elements of modern blended with Asian flavours all exceptional and delicious. Great service and well...trained team. Slow cooked Wagyu was amazing and wife raved about the Muse Coconut dessert, it was bursting with sweetness and flavour. Worth a visit if you can get in!More

We booked last minute and lucky to get a 9pm sitting. Staff were so lovely and helpful. The food was amazing, everything was cooked to perfection and so full of flavour. The meals are small portions but as you go through the multiple courses we...found ourselves quite content and loving every bite. The tables are spaced quite well so your romantic dinner is not interrupted. Only feedback is that the restaurant is a bit dark to see the food. But overall amazing and definitely recommend to dine hereMore

My wife and I recently celebrated our wedding anniversary at Muse Restaurant. The service was attentive but not intrusive. The food was superb, finishing with the Muse Coconut for dessert which was a highlight for me. The sommelier was very knowledgeable and helpful, and overall...we had a wonderful, memorable experience. Well worth visiting when in the Hunter.More

Was definitely the finest dining experience we had on our holiday. Easy to keep COVID safe when reception staff rush to open the door for you. Busy night we went but all the tables were comfortably distanced from one another. Table staff were superb and...the availability of an excellent vegan menu was perfect. Food was excellent and the wine list superb. An absolute must of fine dining is what you are after.More
