We were going to eat at the Brasserie but the prices were more than we desired. However, we did go to the bar for a drink. First drinking hole we had visited in town that actually had local wines (from two different wineries) & beer. We really enjoyed the ambiance of this beautiful old building. Great spot for a conversation... More

Decided to try this out after being recommended by an Armidale local. Food was excellent as was the service. Prices were reasonable for the quality of food served. I had the blue eyed cod which was delicious and cooked to perfection. Thank you for the recommendation Sandstock Motel.

Great food at a reasonable price with quick service and great atmosphere. Kerb appeal bought me in and I'm so glad because I wasn't disappointed.

They breed their chickens big in New England - or so it would appear judging from the size of the truly delicious schnitzel that I had. My husband had the pork schnitzel - equally large & equally tasty. The crumbed coating was crunchy & golden. There's a choice of sauces (mushroom was great) served in separate containers so that the... More

Probably a hot summer day is not the best for this place if you wish for a light refreshing meal. Some of the things on the menu online are no longer available at the restaurant. The chips somewhat soggy. Large portions. Have been here several times over the last couple of years, and it is better in the winter when... More

Lovely old Aussie hotel with beautiful lattice work & great furnishings. If Australian hotels want to charge top prices for meals they have to drop the drink prices or visa versa. House white wine & post mix Coke $12 then most of the main courses were $25-$30 some were even $46. Being a University city I would have thought that... More

Stopped by here for an early dinner when travelling through. I was tired and hungry so found this place to be an oasis. Ordered the "smaller" lunch time schnitzel! Too massive to consume. Friendly staff, newspapers to read for the sole diner and just all-round good value.

We went as a large group to see where Peter Allen first played and to see the piano. Staff were friendly but knew nothing about it which was a pity. They could print out and place information on a wall and direct people there. Meals were large and average. I ordered the Thai chicken salad and that was not good.... More

My wife and I visited between Christmas and New Year when most of Armidale was closed. What a fabulous pub, spotlessly clean, newspapers to read while I enjoyed a quiet ale or two while waiting for the restaurant to open. It has very large screens playing the cricket. Would be great in the height of the rugby session. I enjoyed... More

The decor is homely and with some character. The meal was great and came in good time. The service at both the bar and at the table was friendly and relaxed. Overall we enjoyed and pleasant dining experience
