We regularly ate here when we lived in Te Anau. Roberto is a fantastic host with great cooking done by his wife Christina. Cafe La Dolche Vita served authentic Italian for from Robertos home town of Malchesina, the service was always good and the humour priceless. We will miss our weekly visits to this great institution in Te Anau.

This restaurant was recommended by our hotel and did not disappoint. I have a very restricted diet and they made something special just for me. It was excellent; one of the best meals I had on the trip. In addition, they truly cared that I enjoyed it and were happy when I did. I love the Italian family feel of... More

It is a very big restaurant with several rooms, all big, high ceilings and bright lights, no atmosphere at all. You can already see it from the outside. The food is ok but not Italian full of flavours explosion, simple and filling. We are not coming back again.

We went walking around Te Anau to see if we could find somewhere nice to have a meal to celebrate my 50th Birthday. We walked up to the outside menu board to see what was on offer and didnt even finish reading the menu before hightailing it out of there The restaurant was not yet open but the language being... Well Roberto was really good to catch up with you. Great meal last night. I'm so glad you accepted the voucher you produced 11 years ago when you thought it would be better to pay your bill for the work I did for you by voucher rather than money. It made my weekend to get one back at you. Every... More

The food at La Dolce Vita is well cooked and presented. Also authentically Italian. How Do I know this? I have now taken 2 Italian visitors there. The second compared one of the dishes favourably with her grandmother's cooking of the same dish. Roberto is a rather flamboyant Italian.

The atmosphere at this eatery was like dining in my high school cafeteria. High ceilings with bright overhead lighting (install dimmers for crying out loud). It made the whole experience uncomfortable - you just want to eat and run!!! The house wine was horrible - I should have known better. It was a public holiday so the place was packed... More

The restaurant is barn like has no atmosphere. Although it was quiet when we arrived it soon filled up. Service was reasonable, but the food appeared suspiciously quickly. It seemed that it had been pre prepared and not cooked to order. To be honest it was nothing special.

Great pizza! Owner is Italian and so are the chefs. Real Italian feel. Great service. Pizzas were delicious and so is the tiramisù and gelato. Went here 2 nights in a row. Yummyyy.
