The Sherwood reminds of a pub - large space with timber floors, on the dark side with a central bar. The food was excellent - tasty entrees followed by a substantial, flavoursome lamb shoulder which would challenge most couples with a good appetite. Wine list...is not extensive but has plenty to offer - we enjoyed a Felton Rd single vineyard, reasonably priced. Not as fancy as some, but food is up there with the best.More

Farm fresh produce, each ingredient was carefully selected and each dish lovingly considered. Warm cosy and incredible venue. Great for couples, families or larger groups. Would highly recommend adding to your Queenstown travel itinerary!

A huge thank you for our memorable wedding night at Sherwood. Once we found our cozy spot by the fire, the food and the service by Carlos was amazing. Every dish was spot on, thanks for accommodating all our dietary requirements and thank you for...the kind gesture of the champagne. It will forever be a memorable night, thanks again.More

We ordered the 'Leave it to Us' $95 per person. We had been to Sherwood before and had a great meal and were looking to relive the experience. We couldn't have been more disappointed. We started with flat bread, it was hot around the edges...and cold in the middle. Then we moved onto the 'snacks', 1. Salt baked golden beets, navel orange, fennel, buckwheat - Ok but not wow 2. Smoked warehou croquettes, salt & vinegar - flavourless 3. Chicken oyster skewers, bbq laque, sage - could have got better from the local takeaway I think there was something else but obviously not memorable We were warned there would be a lot of food and we were comfortable with that, however, it all came out at once, no respite between courses, no time to savour the flavours Then came the large Plate 1. Lumina lamb shoulder to share - nothing special 2. Carrots, tahini dressing, dukkah seeds - delicious 3. Cos lettuce, buttermilk, garden radish, sprouts - ok 4. Twice cooked potatoes, garlic sour cream, chilli salt - I think they were twice deep fried and no garlic sour cream. No sooner had we finished the main event - the waitstaff were rushing us to have desert Desert - Panna Cotta, with berries and shaved ice - absolutely delicious but couldn't compensate for a disappointing eating exprience. To be honest I could cook better at home!More

Our group of 5 dined here on Matariki and it was an exceptional evening. The food had interesting flavours and was all absolutely delicious! We shared a flatbread, 4 mains (special mention for the paua bolognese), 3 vegetable sides and 2 desserts and it was...a lot of food, but we devoured everything! There was a kids' menu which the youngest of our group chose from but it wasn't really needed as there was plenty on the main menu that she could have enjoyed (and did). The mains and sides all mostly arrived at the same time (the kids menu dishes arrived earlier which we appreciated) and so we were able to enjoy the various dishes together instead of eating one dish and waiting ages for the next one. The food was very reasonably priced considering the generous portions and the quality of the cooking. The drinks list was well curated, and the cocktail list was different and excellent (but expensive). Service by a lovely Argentinian young lady was charming and professional. Overall, we were extremely impressed and rated this the best dinner of our Queenstown visit.More

A group of 8 of us had a wonderful lunch, using the "Leave it to us" option. The combinations and flavours were wonderful. Everyone enjoyed the food which we all shared, and the vegetarians in our group were well catered for. The service was excellent...too.More

Our favourite restaurant in the QueenstownArea So lucky to dine there twice this week. Friendly accommodating staff and a buzzy restaurant environment. The rustic outside area has a brazier. We dine there frequently as we love the consistent excellence of the plates produced by the...clever chef's in Sherwood's open kitchen and the top service from staff. We generally share all plates. We were seated both times up in the main area of dining room. I'm not a great fan of the high stool , so may ask for a low table next time when booking. Highlight of lunch was the Southern Market fish. Generous portions of perfectly cooked Butter fish with the kale verde, crispy kale and shaved turnip. We mopped up the last of the verde with the crusts of the very moorish confit garlic and rosemary flat bread. All washed down with Milton Viognier. Dinner was a late sitting on a Saturday night. The restaurant was fully booked. Opted for the Lumina lamb shoulder - jus, cos salad and the coloured beet salad - again another fine meal.More

We stayed at the Sherwood for a week and had one lovely dinner in the restaurant. It is quite expensive for a family (we have 3 teenage boys), but we shared a beautiful lamb shoulder with sides of delicious vegetables. The food was all delicious.

Hi Rachael, thank you for your question! We love dogs and have guests who come in to dine and seat outside in the courtyard with their pets. Unfortunately, we don't allow to have dogs in our hotel rooms. Best Wishes Sherwood
