I don't like lamb but my husband does and we tried a lot of it while in New Zealand. Meg's Canterbury lamb was hands-down the best lamb I have ever eaten in my life - and we've had lamb all over the world! The restaurant is cozy and overlooks a main street, the only complaint about the atmosphere is it... More

This is a restaurant upstairs in downtown Queenstown. It's historical and has vintage decor. Get the historical idea but the restaurant needs freshening.. The wait staff is excellent and very helpful with menu choices. The dinner was fine just not memorable, but may fit the bill for New Zealand cuisine for most.

Service was top notch. However venison was very disappointing, overcooked and bland. They made up for this by offering final course at no charge. Decor was bland and dated. Overall underwelming. Wine was good.

If you are a tradicional foodie were quality, service, presentation and value is a must then this is the place. Don't be deceived by the modest entrance once you go through the door you realise you have arrived at a special place. This is a family restaurant and you can feel it by the warm welcome on arrival by Sharon... More

We chose this restaurant because I wanted good lamb, and it lived up to my expectations! It was delightful dinner, including the hand rolled ravioli (vegetarian), and the desert.

WE ate here to sample the recommended cuisine. Roaring Megs is full of surprises. Her history is given in the front of the menu so we won't spoil the story. The entrance to the restaurant is rather like Narnia. - an anonymous door at the first floor landing of a modern building. But go through that door and you are... More

The food was very good. My dad and I both enjoyed the lamb and we now know why this restaurant has won so many awards! The service wasn't also really good!

This is a must. Excellent food in a very comfortable setting. The dishes were interesting, generous and beautifully cooked. The staff were good natured and very helpful in a non pretentious down to earth way.

Thank NEBird

Searching for the perfect NZ Lamb dish? Then look no further than Roaring Megs, this unique little restaurant will not disappoint! Established in 1981, Megs has continued to lead the field by being the only restaurant in the area to receive 15 consecutive NZ Beef & Lamb Gold plates and win both the recent Central Otago Lamb Dish of the Year and NZ Beef & Lamb Peoples Choice competitions. Megs unique menu has distinct European/NZ influences and the Rack of Canterbury Lamb is a must try whilst in Queenstown. The atmosphere and Victorian decor is the perfect setting for a romantic, candlelit dinner or group get together. Arrive before the sun sets for a Remarkables view.
