Unfortunetly was very average. All the food on offer was avg , with. Hips basically. Mostly deep fried , and most of the table didn’t really finish their meals. Would I go back again , no Beer and wine list was ok , service was...ok too.More

Stumbled across The Crown on a rainy night after stopping in at the shopping centre to avoid sitting in the Queenstown traffic. What an awesome experience! The restaurant was fully booked (we could tell why), so we sat in the bar area near the fireplace...and soaked up the buzzing atmosphere. Meals admittedly took a while to receive, but the staff were honest upfront with wait times, so we had no problem enjoying our drinks and chatting as a family in the meantime. Our kids (aged 15 and 13) had the ribs, my husband the lamb shank, while I opted for the Steak and Ale pie. Wow - every meal was delicious. Just good, honest pub food done well. And the onion gravy was next level. The mains were so good we all ordered desserts. The Sticky Date pudding….mmmm. Perfect! And the kids loved the ice cream sundaes. We lived in the UK for many years, and reckon The Crown is up there with the best of the UK pubs. We’ve voted The Crown our favourite Queenstown eatery. Non pretentious, great staff, good, honest food, and a brilliant ambiance. We will absolutely be back!More

I love The Crown and would highly rate friends, couples or families to go here. It’s got a great design and layout and I love coming here to drink in the beer garden in the sun. The food is also pretty good, I enjoy the...bangers and mash, nachos, and the chicken wraps. I also had the sticky toffee pudding once which was the best I ever had in QT. The staff are always friendly and I really enjoyed the waitress/bar staff named Adela who was from Czech and was so kind and smiley. Will definitely come back!!More

It was a Sunday and we had driven down from Kaikoura, moving furniture with our son, and by the time we had unpacked the furniture trailer we were ready for dinner just after 8.30pm. Went to Frankton, tried one restaurant but their kitchen was closed...and they recommended going to The Crown. We got a warm welcome at The Crown's reception, the kitchen was still open and furthermore we were told that there was Sunday roast still available. Brilliant. We sat in a booth which was very comfortable. Revived with drinks from the bar, our big plates of roast beef with Yorkshire pudding arrived, slightly slow considering we were the only customers. But the food made up for the slight delay. The beef was so tender and lots of it, there were lovely roast vegetables (potatoes and pumpkin from memory), carrots, peas and a sweet mash (kumera?) which was very delicious, with plenty of gravy and extra if we needed it. How perfect after a long day. I had no idea of the price as we never viewed the menu, just jumped at the offer of a roast dinner. So I was very pleasantly surprised when I looked at the bill later to find it was just $25 - what great value.More

Came for a family dinner with four adults and 2 children. We got a booth table, which was very comfortable. Good atmosphere and our waitress was very friendly. The food was good: - Nachos were gigantic! - Chicken parma was solid - Fish and chips...were good, but the fish had to be left to cool as it was nuclear hot - The lam shank was very good The beer garden looked like a great spot, so I would like to go there another time. All in all, a good experience and will be back.More

Here is what happened: I picked up my child from daycare, went to get sushi first (he always has sushi after daycare) , and then went to meet my friends at the Crown, we ordered drinks, and I ordered A kids burger for my child,...we were sitting there drinking and waiting for the kids burger, my little one was having his sushi. The manager came saying we can't have food that's not bought from his restaurant, I said it was for my kid, and I ordered food too, he said I can cancel that order, but you just can't have the sushi here. He said that in front of my child and friends. I was left feeling humiliated and my child shaken up. After that, we left , we went to Joe's Garage , no issues there, all the staff at Joe's Garage are so friendly, that's what I called a "Family friendly Place". As a mom, I know what to give to my child, let alone he has the same food everyday after daycare which is the sushi, now my child thinks eating sushi is wrong, thanks Gavin.More

I ordered the taco salad and was served something that resembled someone else’s unfinished meal. The actual salad was wilted and everything was thrown together like someone else had been through it and sent it back. The avocado was a brown mush slopped on top...and it was all dressed up with packet shredded cheddar. The other meal was just as disappointing. A small over cooked steak and an additional side order of steam veggies came with unexpected potato. The meals feel like they have been put together by inexperienced kitchen staff, which could be the reason given the current state of world affairs.More

Popped in for a quick dinner after flying in. I ordered the steak and chips and my wife ordered the chicken 'Parmi'. Food was excellent - steak was cooked as ordered and mushroom sauce accompaniment was a perfect match, the chicken parmigiana was spot on...too. Staff were friendly and food and drink service was reasonably prompt. Only gripe I had was the bar area was next to the restaurant seating and noise level got a bit high with some 'happy' guest. But all and all and enjoyable experience...More

The Crown is a welcome addition to the Frankton area, good for locals and easily the best selection of beers on tap . The service is friendly and welcoming and the menu extensive. Only one issue , and it’s a big one - meal portions...and value for money, at $34.50 for fish and chips you would expect more than a pretty miserable amount of chips ( how much do chips cost!) and a piddling amount of salad. I hope the Crown really looks at this as it will simply make customers go for bar snacks or opt out altogether for a meal. Remember please, you are a pub.More

The location is away from the hustle and bustle(Behind Countdown). Plenty of parking spaces. Very spacial indoor and outdoor dining suits different types of diners. Love the outdoor area among the plants, feeling quite relaxed with the breeze and music. Family-friendly with the kiddie room....I am not a person after noisy bar, but definitely would like to come back either with friends or family. Although it is a big venue, service can still catch up. Hopefully it can still be attentive when really busy. Like the snack garlic bread, not a place just paying for the view or location.More
