Had my birthday dinner at this restaurant and this was the low light of our whole Queenstown experience. Long waits for overcooked food, twice on steak that was send back. Would definitely NOT recommend.

We could not have selected a lovelier restaurant to enjoy our anniversary dinner. Both our meals were exceptional, and our wine was matched perfectly. The staff were attentive without being invasive, which we loved. Thank you for a memorable evening. Will highly recommend.

Great views, friendly staff and a good wine list. Our entrees were well cooked though unadventurous. Both lamb pave and King Ora Salmon were over cooked, the salmon very much so. The small menu never altered over a week so long term in house guests...as we were ended up running out of options quickly. It is worth a visit though and with more care could be very good. We got the impression that the kitchen staff were multitasking with room service and conferences hence lacked attention to detailMore

Staying at the Hilton so booked to go to the restaurant after a 7 hour drive. We booked with reception but the restaurant didn’t have us down, when I checked my email I had one email confirming the booking and one half an hour later...cancelling, I didn’t cancel. They let us in though so all good. We ordered cocktails to have before our meal, these arrived halfway though the starter. This cost them a bottle of wine sale and saved me $100nz. My starter, smoked salmon, was fine and there was plenty of salmon. It was well matched with the salmon roe and pickled cucumber. After our starter we ordered wine, getting in early. Of course our mains arrived before the wine and we had to summon the waiter in an attempt to have our wine with the meal. My steak, fillet ordered as medium, was well done but went well with the red wine jus. If you work as a chef in a restaurant labelled grill you would think a steak would be cooked as requested but apparently not. Wine arrived halfway through eating my steak. Desert, a cheesecake, was fine. Overall this was a standard I’ve got used to with hotel restaurants, you are a captive audience and they charge Michelin star prices for an average at best meal. Ho hum, I’ve done this enough times to know better.More

Had a BLT for lunch and a very nice steak dinner, in addition to just stopping through a number of times for drinks on the patio. Steak was cooked just as I had requested, sides were all yummy and the food came really quickly. The...server was very friendly and helpful as well. The bartenders when I ordered drinks to take out to the patio were all informative (on local beers!) and nice, too. The only reason I gave 4 stars is that I would like to see a few more menu options mainly on the lunch and snack menu. If you are here for a few days a bit more variety would be nice.More

Took the water taxi from Queenstown to the Hilton , but saw the grill, didn’t eat anything, looked lovely by the water, had a coffee too, really nice, well worth spending a couple of hours there.

2 stars just because food tasted good. Spoke to restaurant manager 10 days before for a special vegetarian menu for my wife’s 40 th bday dinner and was told will be sorted . Went for dinner no one knew about it so no option just...choose from the menu . Got past it , no drinks menu for 15 minutes and 30 minutes for the beer and had to ask for it when the restaurant did not seem very busy … Gets better kids had pasta and asked for extra Parmesan and were told will be 2$ extra !!!!!! . Were told 9:00 clock is the last dinner order ( was hoping restaurant will try to make up for it by trying ti be extra nice but not the case here ) . Were made to rush for mains as last order had to be in by 9:00 and as was paying for the dinner at 10:00 they were taking new orders so asked another waitress and was told we take orders upto 10:00 not 9:00 …….. spoke to duty manager and he apologized , but can see why this place comes at 52 rank in TripAdvisor amongst the restaurants in Queenstown ……More

Several websites had sited this as the best place to have Christmas dinner. So, many months before, we booked tickets for their Christmas dinner. We are Hilton Diamond members, and yet when I asked if we could have a seat with a view, I was...told that they couldn’t do that. - even though there were several open tables!? The menu was wonderful and the food was tasty, however the service was absolutely terrible. We got our drink order quickly and shortly thereafter they brought the first course. From there it was all downhill. We easily waited 45 minutes after we finished the first course before we finally received the main course. Meanwhile we had to ask for the table to be cleared and we ordered more wine - which took at least 20 minutes to arrive. Given that they knew how many reservations they had and that the menu was set, it is hard to understand why this didn’t go more smoothly. And did I mention that between the meal and the drinks it was in excess of $250 USDA?! What could have been a wonderful Christmas meal ended up being a huge disappointment! Buyer beware. . .More

We didn’t have a booking but they found us a table, which was much appreciated. Food was great but had to settle for second choice as despite it being only 6:30pm and there was only 4 other couples in the restaurant they had apparently run...out of salmon. Very disappointed with that nevertheless the vegetarian pasta option was still very tasty. Restaurant ambiance tasteful with a large group option area if needed. Wait staff friendly. Discovered we were over charged 4 extra items after we had already paid which they did refund but it took a bit of effort to get the various approvals from their onsite management first.More

Didn’t have a booking but they fitted us in . Food was good and staff very polite and efficient. Reasonable price , however we were charged for drinks we never had which took about half hour to get sorted and refunded

Amazing restaurant in the Hilton. Ane was really amazing looking after us for breakfast and coffee. Phil and his team of Paula and Franco looked after us amazingly during dinner. I would recommend staying at the Hilton just for this restaurant. Truly spreading the light...of hospitality.More

We were staying at the Hilton and had breakfast included. It pays to get to breakfast early as the room is fairly small and there are a lot of people wanting breakfast. Lots of choice and you won’t go hungry. I had the traditional breakfast...items which were well cooked and tasty.More

Disappointing. When you sit down and your told all the things that aren’t on the menu, and it only leaves lamb and steak!! No fish, no prawns and it’s a special birthday celebration. We should have left then. Every Resturant we’ve eaten at has far...surpassed our expectations, the food has been such a highlight of this beautiful town but unfortunately this Resturant has let us down. Very pricy for what you get. I don’t know how it received 41/2 out of 5 in the ratings. The staff tried hard and were very pleasant but there were way to many of them wandering around. We don’t mind paying the price for fabulous food, but this just wasn’t.More

Whilst staying at the Hilton we went to the restaurant for dinner. Tried their gin and tonic in the fabulous large glasses in the bar first, which was delicious. We got a table by the window so had a great view during dinner. The service...was excellent, they did not rush you which was nice, so we had an enjoyable dining experience. The meal was delicious, steak was cooked really well, everything was great. Would definitely revisit.More

I thought the Hilton brand was one that stood out as first class and one with exceptional service well not here !! It appears the Hilton employ young staff who have no idea on how to serve guests food or attend to guests we waited...nearly an hour for our entrees which were awful so bad that my ceasar salad was inedible the remaining entrees for the family were nearly as bad The young staff appear to be on a training course serving guests off trays Not once did our waiter come back to us after serving us drinks The mains finally arrived and wouldn’t have been served in a Woking mans club the food at Australian surf clubs are far superior to the muck we were served up The only up side to the whole experience was that the waiter in charge was so embarrassed by the service and food his staff served up without any prompting from myself when I went to pay the bill said please accept my apologies their is no charge The Hilton brand will be severely damaged if they don’t change and look at the awful standards they our serving to guests at this location I hope this is read by their management before it’s to late for them to recover a reputation that worldwide is very solid It’s a shame because the location is superb We will not be returning unless drastic changes have been implementedMore
