Let me say unequivocally that no visit to Queenstown would be complete or legitimate if you did not stand in the long queues and dine at Fergburger (Fergbaker and Mrs. Ferg as well!). This ultimate burger joint is open 7 days a week from 8:00am - 5:00am, and besides the wee hours in the morning, there is a constant queue at any time of the day. If you hear about the long queue in Queenstown, don't look up at Skyline Queenstown or the TSS Earnslaw, but instead utter Fergburger. With two-winged creatures at the entrance and phrases such as "Ferg Loves You" and "In Ferg We Trust," you know they would have a loyal following. It is the place to be and be seen. I would order The Fergburger even though with dishes dubbed as "Southern Swine," "Little Lamby," "Cockadoodle Oink," "Chief Wiggum," and "Big Al," you would probably have a difficult time just picking one. The joint actually caters to anyone's flavor profile. NZ beef, wild Fiordland deer, South Coast Blue Cod, falafel, and tofu, you name the meat or non-meat, and Ferg has it! After you have made the most important burger decision in your life, you should wash it all down with some sides (fries with choice of sauce, onion rings, and salt & pepper squid) and a cold beverage or beer. Besides the endless queues, keep in mind that the burgers are actually larger than your standard fast food fare and dare I say, larger than some restaurant servings, so order wisely. In addition, at NZ$12.50 (USD$1 = NZ$1.50 for January 2020) for a Fergburger, you can afford to buy in bulk and also be assured of a hearty and satisfying meal. Listen to kiwis alike and burger lovers around the world and visit Fergburger if you know any better. Like they say, you are what you eat. Queenstown = Ferg Nation!

Several people recommended Fergburger and it was a delicious burger. I ate a regular Ferburger ($12.50NZ) and my husband had a double cheeseburger ($16.50). Chips (fries, $4.50)) are extra. We waited in line to order and then additional line to pick up the food which meant the burgers were fresh and hot. There is limited seating inside and with so many people crowding the cash register and waiting for food we decided to take the burgers to the lake and eat outside. That was a lovely idea since there was an outdoor musician playing and a bench to sit on. The only problem with the burgers, it was messy to eat since there was a special sauce and lots of vegetables (tomato, onion, lettuce, etc) which made the bread and meat slide. And we didn't have enough napkins so make sure to get extras.

After having heard so much about this place we decided to give it a try. We waited in line for around 30 mins, then once order was placed we had to wait another 30 mins before it was ready. But what amazing burgers! A juicy chicken burger with mango chutney and avacodos and fresh Lettuce - whats not to like! Its a little on the expensive side but thats the hype surcharge probably :) What was most impressive is the customer service despite being so overcrowded. As we stood in the line outside, a member walked around and offered free cookies. Then another offered umbrellas to those who needed it (since it was raining). For a business that does so well, to still care for its customers is surprising and much appreciated. Thank you for the best burger and best service in town.

I mean, it’s a reasonably average burger. We went when the line looked a bit shorter than normal. Taste: 7/10 - I’d recommend Burger Fuel anywhere else in NZ, Burger Burger and Better Burger in Auckland for better tasting for a similar or cheaper price Price to quality: 9/10 - big portions Service: 0/10 (never waited that long for a burger before, why don’t they open another store if it’s that busy all the time?!) Queued for 15 mins and burgers took 25 mins. I did like that you could check your order online so you didn’t have to wait there after ordering. I think it’s just this popular because there’s no other better burger places in Queenstown?

The hype around Fergburger is amazing. These folks really know how to market themselves as there is always a line to get into the place. If you go to Queenstown, you practically HAVE to go to Fergburger or you will be shunned back home and shunned among fellow travelers abroad. All that having been said, I found the hamburgers to be only ordinary. After waiting in line for 30 minutes, we were finally able to order and look for a seat in the tiny seating area adjacent to the kitchen. Basically you are crammed together with maybe 30 of your new closest friends and it can get quite hot and quite uncomfortable while you're waiting and then eating. The burgers are of a huge size and sit on a huge bun. Fries are good as are the milkshakes. I didn't find the taste of the burgers to be anything special and the whole ambiance of lining up, ordering, waiting for the burgers to be prepared, and then eating in the very cramp space was off-putting. But the place certainly is popular and is known far and wide. If you go to Queenstown, you will almost certainly line up to go to Fergburger.

Drove into Queenstown at 3pm and managed to find the closest parking spot right in front of the joint so decided to give it a shot. The time from ordering to receiving food was about 20 minutes. Keep in mind this trip was done during the Covid-19 virus days (before the NZ entry ban) so there were fewer travelers. We ordered a couple of burgers and onion rings. The regular burger was large enough to feed most people with a normal appetite. I didn't find it anything special though. The best part was the bun--absolutely superb. The meat was ok. They loaded the burger with too much condiments so it got pretty soggy. The onion rings were quite good but much more expensive than the fries. Overall, I don't think it's worth the wait, especially if you have to wait any longer than we did during normal travel times.

I find that when people tell me I have to try something or go somewhere I have such high expectations that I am disappointed. Ferg burger was not this case. The burgers were well priced and the turn around from ordering to eating only 10 mins was amazing. We had planned going again today but air nz changed our flight times unfortunately.

Visited Fergburger early new years day and decided to buy a burger due to there being no line. It has a good atmosphere and the staff were friendly and helpful(they even gave the kids free chips while we waited), but if you are expecting a knock your socks off life changing burger, you are going to be disappointed. It is a burger and just a burger and you can get them in any town in the world.

Yes this is a tourist trap, and the queues can be massive and long. But, the wait is definitely worth it. Truly the best burger we've had ever. We queued for about 15 minutes to order, there was a staff member at the end of the queue handing out menus, so you can make your choice before getting to the till. We were also informed of current wait time for both queue and food after ordering, managing expectations well. In the end it was about a 30 minute wait from ordering to get food. Ordered an original with cheese, and an oink oink (chicken+bacon). Both were extremely good in all aspects. Burger patty great, but the tomato relish used elevates it to another level. If they bottle the relish, I would buy several to take home with me. Also extremely good value for money, especially compared to UK prices (where we are form). Can not fault them. Don't complain about the wait, as you are buying into that as part of the experience.

The burger’s aren’t bad, but standing in line for hours to get one is ridiculous. Other cafes in Queenstown make burgers that are just as good. Fergburg covers it’s costs by 10am and then it’s all profit. Travellers buy into the hype and instead of spending time enjoying their holidays stand on a pavement for hours waiting for not bad food. Skip it, grab some food at another local cafe/burger place/restaurant and free up time to enjoy the sights of Queenstown.

We got in the line about 3.30pm we queued about 10-15 mins to order then another 5-10 mins waiting for the food to cook. We ordered 2 fergburger deluxe and with one fries. The fries were lovely and the burgers were huge and very tasty. Also great value for money

As I am sure anyone who is traveling through Queenstown, and maybe to go gas at traveling through Otago, Fergberger is sure to be thrown out there as a “must do.” I have had friends visit me in NZ go thee and wait up to 2 hours for their burger, saying it was one of the best burgers. I decided to go there for myself to see just how true this was, and determine if it wasn’t just waiting in line and hype that got them to say that. Seating: The only seating that was offered was outside, two 4-top tables and a bench appx 10 meters long. Depending on when you go this will either be enough seating or not enough... for my Sunday evening dine-in at about 1530 I was fortunate to secure a table. The wait: Numerous times driving past the establishment I have seen the line go to the next block, but this time there was only a handful of people in front of me. The food took about 10-15 minutes as described by the hostess. The food: I got the “FergDelex” for $15.50, and at the time of this review it was their most popular burger. They stated it is only cooked to “well” done, which was fine with me. Biting into it I was hoping for joy, and simply received disappoint. The burger was a little wet and falling apart , but it was a good size. Water is refilled by the staff, so make sure you get that task done ahead of time. All in all it wasn’t a bad burger for $15, and by no means the worst burger, but if I had to wait more than 15 minutes I would not have been very satisfied.

In preparing for a few days in Queenstown I came across the reviews for Fergburger. Seemed like a “must visit” for lunch or dinner. I wandered over to have a look on my first day and was overwhelmed by the lines of customers waiting to place their order and then collect it. We were told by a staff member based on where we were standing that it would be around 45 minutes before we’d get to place our order and another 15 or 20 until it was ready. What?? Really? I refused to do this, and walked away. But a couple days later after doing an early Jet Boat ride, we walked by around 10 am and the line was only about 10 deep. So, we stood in line a few minutes and placed our order. Bottom line, the quality was just “OK”, and certainly not worth the hype. I’ve had way too many great and better tasting burgers in the states. But kudos to the marketing team at Fergburger. They have created a “crowd mentality” of demand and must move a couple thousand burgers a day as a result. Most of the clientele, by the way, was under 30.

We noticed Fergburger driving through Queenstown - there was a huge queue of people outside. Now a burger isn't the sort of meal you want to queue for, so we ended up skipping on Fergburger, hoping for a shorter queue later on. Alas, it was crowded all the time... with tourists. Passing through Queenstown a few days later we decided to give Fergburger a go for lunch. We tried phone ordering to avoid the queue, but for whatever reason that wasn't operational. So 15 mins in the queue it was. In the end, the burger was good, maybe even very good. Lovely fresh bread, good quality meat patty and fresh ingredients. Perhaps a bit too much aoli and tomato relish. Was it worth the wait? Probably not. Was it worth the price? Hmm... probably 10-20% overpriced. But, hey, we went to Fergburger and it's clearly the burger place to be in Qt!

These burgers tasted like home made burgers, not processed take away food. There were queues anytime you went but the staff were quite proficient and you were served in about 15 minutes. And the food is halal
