The service is always excellent and the food varied and fresh. I combine this with a check on the tuataras and a look at the museum displays. The coffee is the best in town in my opinion and either morning/afternoon teas/snacks or lunch is never a disappointment. Their Macaroni Cheese in the winter months is first rate! And a Chocolate... After touring Southland Museum and Art Gallery we stopped in for coffee which was delicious, as was our date scone with butter. Comfortable atmosphere, light and bright. And friendly staff.

This handy cafe is placed just where you need it after completing your circuit of the ground floor of the museum, before attacking the upper levels. Tasty snacks and drinks and good access to the souvenir shop.

The cafe was very busy, so service was a little slow but the staff were friendly and the coffee was good - we enjoyed "people watching" while we waited for our drinks!

We tried the brownies and the Belgian Cake. Both were good (but the brownie was better). Coffee was above average and service was friendly.

The Pyramid on Gala is a great little cafe within the Invercargill Museum, so after browsing the exhibits, trying to keep to your feet on the rolling deck or trying to spot the statue-like tuataras, the perfect spot to take a break is the cafe. The food is very tasty, generous helpings, and served by friendly staff. Hubby's panini looked... More

The museum cafe is a busy place around lunchtime so is better to visit earlier or after 1 pm. Having said that, I've always found a place for two after 12. Nice food and good service in a spacious area so don't be put off, There is plenty of room because it is the ground floor of a major museum.
