I wanted to spend a special evening with my partner and a friend recommended Cook N with Gas. Upon arrival we were greeted and seated in this historical villa .Despite its age it was warm and comfortable. On such a brisk winters night I had the pea and ham soup while my partner chose the gold medal mussels. For the main... More

The first hint of culinary mishap was upon reading the menu - a catastrophe of flavour combinations and a mismatch of proteins! It was difficult for me to make a choice that would settle well on my palate and ultimately in my stomach - I chose the 'ossobucco' which was fish - $ 40!! The duck at $45 - my... More

Was a great night, food was good however have had a better Steak elsewhere for less. Most of the staff were very friendly, one was a bit static shall we say. Overall a great night out and worth trying it and judging for yourself.

The food was well presented and the taste was fantastic. Have to mention the complimentary dish. Creative, full of taste and mix of texture! We were too full to try out the pudding but I am sure we will visit again. Well done!

This restaurant is sited in a beautiful old timber building. It's interior is warm and inviting and the lighting sets the mood for an evening of fine dining. The dishes are prepared with fresh local ingredients, and although my salmon entree was a little pretentious, the main was the best use of wild venison I have ever experienced. I was... More

We love "the gas". Post quake there are a hugh amount of new restaurants appearing. It's easy to forget about our good old favorites. Portions are enormous, so much so it seamed mentioning a dog bag was part of our waitresses speech. If you haven't been it's worth a visit. If you've been before go again even if it's just... More

this place ticks many of my boxes. Venison cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. Duck also looked very good. Very obliging some of my dietary restrictions. I can be quite critical but found little to complain about. The service was great, the food absolutely yummy. A great find. Only down side was the coffee...but everything else fantastic. A little pricey... More

Last night my partner and I enjoyed the most perfect dining experience at Cook'n'With Gas, the staff are friendly, professional and knowledgeable, the food is exceptionally well balanced, perfectly cooked and tastes sensational, also despite being fully booked, the noise level was muted and it was really pleasing to be able to chat with my partner comfortably.

We ate here on a cold and wet Thursday night. We were a group of about 12 people. Quite a cosy little building. All of the mains looked great. I had the venison, which was nicely done and quite tender. Dessert was a chocolate sticky date pudding, also great. Good selection of craft beer and wine. We also had a... More

I found the restaurant on trip-advisor. The atmosphere was very nice. Service was fast. Food, especially beefsteak, was very good. Our kids wanted to come back a week later. Everything was as good as the last visit. So I'd highly recommend this restaurant.
