We made a booking for early on a Sunday night. When we arrived there was one other couple dining there. When we left an hour later the only other customers, a group of three, had arrived. We felt curious and rather sorry for the staff that patronage was so poor. This was our first visit. Complimentary poppadoms and a water... More

This is the 8th review of an Indian restaurant in Christchurch and the worst so far. The restaurant needs some love as it was tired looking and very cold inside. When we arrived there were just a couple of people there and they still had there winters coats on and as more people arrive it was 50/50 of coat on... More

I dined at Spice 'n' Life on Friday 10 January 2014 with a group of 8 people. We dine there habitually, and always get a table. We go back time and again because the food and the service are phenomenal. The service is very discreet but polite. The thing that sets this restaurant apart is the authenticity of this Indian... I really do not know why this place has so many good reviews! I'm going to put it down to kiwis not knowing about what good curry is!! Ok so the starter was good. We had the paneer with mushrooms and samosa which was also good and good portion size. Our peshwari naan was also good. However what came as... More

Friendly staff member, but really small servings-- we shared tandori chicken as on tray, and two curry dishes , naans and rice still get room for dessert afterwards. there're only two tables on a Thursday night

I worked in Northern India for a year and really missed 'real' Indian food. The food here is yum! It took me back to the amazing flavours I experienced in Delhi. I have been back many times. Highly recommended.

We went to the restaurant yearning for an indian meal...after days of bread, pizza and pasta...during our New Zealand sojourn.....being from India...I usually find most indian restaurants overpriced for the quantity and quality.....however...this one just bowled me over...for the delicious food and the huge portions....we ordered from the take away....menu....the portions were huge and the size of the naan breads... We went to Spice'n'life because our friend had just had a birthday, and we all love curry having lived and traveled around Nepal and India. The facade of the restaurant is very low-key, and we were confused for a moment about which door to enter as they had obviously been rearranging things. But where in Christchurch is not slightly rearranged... More
