My husband and I went there to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We loved it. We had a table right in front of the fire on a cold wintery evening, perfect. The staff were pleasantly attentive, the room was a little dark but not too bad, the restaurant wasn't too full so it wasn't loud, and the food was sublime. It's... More

Really enjoyed a bottle of wine here. The company helped and we found there are lots of great spaces you can feel intimate though part of a larger space. Small plates are great!

It was a cold and wet saturday lunchtime. We had always wanted to visit this restaurant but when we walked in It was empty but for a large noisy table. We were greeted nicely and shown to a table, then ignored ! I eventually disturbed the waitresses chatter and asked to enquire about a couple of dishes. I think that... More

That was a recommendation for locals friends. The places is nice, a little bit noisy. Existe a open area, I think smokers allowed, but im not sure. The service is friendly and easy going, the waiters know about the menu, so any question fell free to ask. A good wine list with very good prices. The food is very interesting,... More

I fail to understand why restaurants don't see that eating in the dark doesn't do much for the food on the plate. Sight is one of our essential senses. The soufflé I ate at The Matterhorn may have been tasty, but it was tiny, and grey like everything else looked at in a gloom so dark that you need your... More

Not great from the beginning. Squished 5 on a table for 4. Waiter was polite but not attentive. They didn't have enough menu's so we had to share two until they could find more. We had to ask to order some drinks, and we had to keep asking for our glasses to be filled. The two wine bottles were kept... More

Matterhorn never fails to disappoint and again we were provided with exceptional food and service. We had a 2 course meal with main and dessert and some nibbles to start for a friend's recent birthday celebration. It was excellent food (as per), full of flavours and proper fine dining styles. The service was spot on, efficient and punctual. Hubby had... More

The food was delicious, but costly. Enjoyed a number of dishes, however definitely recommend the pork cheek as it was sublime. Top tip: have a drink at their bar first.

Have been wanting to come here for ages and finally went for it after a random flying visit to Wellington. We didn't have a booking but the maitre d made us feel very welcome regardless. We had oysters to start, the rabbit and steak, and a couple of cocktails. Everything was extremely delicious and the service was impeccable. Highly recommend... More

Delicious food beautifully presented. Helpful attentive staff. A bit expensive but hey there are not that many restaurants in Wellington of this quality. Its worth spending the money for a special occasion. Ordered wine by the glass, I think the markup was a bit over the top but still had a great time.
