Very nice locally sourced food in a local Lyall Bay surf lifesaving hall upstairs. Beautiful views, very nice in summer but can be very noisy as it has wooden floors and everything echoes.

Have enjoyed this cafe quite often for a quick coffee and healthy snack off peak, but would not bother lining up to eat here over the lunch hour again. If you want to have lunch here get in early. I have found it too cramped and noisy and I don't go out to be wedged in a tight noisy space... More

If you like healthy, light food this is the place to come to. It gets crowded after 11am but still it is worth coming to for a food. We went there for brunch and I was amazed by their big breakfast dish. It isn't ordinary and also very special as well. If you are lucky enough you might be able... More

You usually have to fight your way in to get a table as it's so popular, but it's worth it. The food is really good, especially the Big Vege, and they do great coffee. There's an excellent range in the cabinet if you don't want something from the menu. We were there when the southerly was blasting through and it's... More

Turned up around 10 on a sunny Sunday morning, joined the queue of about 4 other couples and settled in for a wait of 10 minutes or so, man I'm glad we did. We were warned of a 40 minute wait for cooked meals so placed our order and grabbed a couple of espresso's and a muffin from the cabinet... More

We visited the café on a fine but windy day. The views over Cook Strait were amazing and this created a very real and special ambience for a coffee and scone. The other meals on offer also looked good and the number of people at 11am supported the reputation the café has. Strongly recommend Maranui for a special experience when... More

Maranui do amazing food from breakfast, brunch, lunch and afternoon tea it's all made on sight, free range, affordable prices and large portions. Maranui surf club have amazing views out on the beach and ocean, if you're lucky you'll be able to see the ferries cross into and out of the channel.
