We've visited Wellington twice now and on both occasions have breakfasted both days at Fidel's. Amazing coffee and friendly service. The food is also delicious - this time I tried the bacon and banana waffles and they were DIVINE! Great ambience and upbeat old time music with under cover outdoor option (no smoking).

Fidels isn't somewhere I really go usually but i was that end of town for several weekends while working on theatre project. Lunchtimes I headed to Fidels a few times for convenience. Always busy, but the queue moved reasonable quick. I picked up take away salads mostly and the odd coffee. The food was good. Very tasty ad enjoyable. I... More

I love Fidel's. One of my first memories of being a 'cool kid' in Wellington was my cousin taking me there in my mid-teens. It's still a favourite. Great food, lots of options to suit various tastes. Decadent cabinet food, a huge menu with lots of choice, and epic milkshakes. If you want a proper milkshake, head to Fidel's! No... More

I had high expectation of this place as it always seems quite busy but was pretty disappointed. Went there for a coffee and desert last week but I ended up not even buying any food. All the cakes at the counter had a fair amount of fruit flies on them... Will definitely not be going back.

I have never been disappointed by the food at fiddles, whether it be breakfast, lunch or a light snack. The place is usually lively and busy, but I've never had a problem getting a table. The service is good, especially considering how busy each server always seems to be. The food is delicious and the decor of the cafe adds... More

Consistently busy, with food standards and preparation consistently first rate, Fidel's features photos from the Cuban missile crisis era which only add to the great ambience found in this famous Cuba Street cafe, one of Wellington's finest!

Ate breakfast here twice. Food was very good. Service varied but was fine - I think the guy on the second day might have been new. The room was a bit cold the second time but then I was the only dumb dumb wearing shortsleeves. Food was a bit more expensive than I expected but about average for New Zealand... More

We had a great de caffeinated coffee and a chilli hot chocolate. It was busy and nice and warm on a cool winter evening. Lovely range of desserts. This was a lovely way to brighten up our evening after having a disastrous meal at the Hong Kee.

We visited this cafe for breakfast with our 15mo daughter and another two couples. Upon arrival I specifically asked the waitress if the cafe was suitable for bringing our toddler in (room for the pram / high chair etc) and after going away to check seating, she returned to say it was. The service was a little slow considering the... More

I love Wellington. I love the coffee culture and the quirky dining spots we have. For me Fidel's is falling behind other places. The coffee is average and for Wellington that is a huge problem - and when I saw the milk from a bag I was a little upset. Using local and fresh is Wellingtons way. The food lacks... More
