It was a beautiful warm and sunny Friday afternoon and my daughter and I met her friend there after work. The place was buzzing and the young man was so accommodating to us hence the service was great. No brandy! to drink but had bourbon and the smell itself bought back wonderful memories of younger years. We sat on the... More

The food was average and fair for the money it cost. The service was slow at times but it was New Years Eve. After 10 pm people could not be in the outdoor dining area which was silly. Staff were unable to answer what time the bar would close and did not find out either. It was an okay place... More

Kia ora JollyJolene, thank you for the review, I am sorry we didn't meet your expectations on this evening. Our venue is only licensed "outside" until 10pm so hence people could not sit out there and drink alcohol after 10pm. There is no negotiation on this for the outside spaces, as our council laws prohibit us from applying for a... More

The food, coffee and shakes at Karaka Cafe are always top notch. Even better sitting on the beanbags on the grass front by the water taking in the atmosphere. Highly recommended spot for a lazy lunch and wine [or beer].

We arrived before opening but they happily accommodated us. Really good coffee and food with a real homemade feel - delicious scones and muffins and the eggs benedict was fabulous - perfectly cooked eggs and a great pumpkin and potato hash underneath. Friendly service and a lovely way to start the day sitting outside by the water.

Beautiful place to dine, we came her for a grad lunch and it was great. greeted with New Zealand's native language from foreign staff members which i found welcoming, and beautifully spoken, just the smallest gestures like these hold a lasting impression. i love how most of everything was based around maori clture. to the serving plates and pots to... As good as it gets on a fine day. Great spot. Service is kiwi as casual. Music kiwi as. Kai (food). Yep also kiwi. Must try Muttonbird pate. New Zealand's own fatty sea duck turned into something delicious! Top tip. When there's a southerly blowing but the sun is shining. Head here. Perfectly sheltered and gets last sun of the... More

While visiting for only a few hours in Wellington we found this cafe. Highly recommend it. Main thing for us was wi-fi and spent considerable time there. Staff was great, friendly, and understanding.
