We went here for my boyfriends birthday when WOAP was on. We both went for the set menu option and we were not disappointed. My boyfriend got the salmon starter and i got the tortellini starter both were delicious can't fault them. We got the same beef main with a few sides extra also to die for great flavours with... The staff were pleasant & welcoming. The Black Pearl cocktail was divine, as was the matched croustillant. The most surprising thing was the pineapple mocktail, which really tasted like ham! It was a delight.

After reading the reviews we were looking for an opportunity to dine here and WOAP (Wellington on a Plate) provided this to us. When we arrived my coat was stored and we were shown to our seats. The service at this point was faultless, our chairs were pulled out and napkins placed on our laps. We were offered the drinks... More

This was a chocolate lovers treat. Even the savoury bites had chocolate- blue cheese and white chocolate sandwich was surprisingly delicious. Hot chocolate to start followed by a choc cocktail or mocktail. Then the chefs came out to introduce the treats and mingle with guests. Choice of 4 Dilmah teas. A lovely afternoon with friends.

We went for a special family celebration, having looked forward to experiencing this special restaurant. While the food was nice, it wasn't special, and it was significantly overpriced. The service was competent, but I had heard amazing things about the "silver service" very attentive wait staff. We did have a nice time, however, will not be rushing back, mainly because... More

The food, the service, the explanations regarding the matched wines for the degustation were all superb. We have eaten here a few times now and this restaurant never disappoints. It is by far our favourite restaurant and perfect for those special celebrations. Also just love the decor!

This is supreme fine dining. It is set in the Museum Hotel with fabulous views across Wellington harbour. You will pay well in return for an amazing and memorable French experience at a highly professional level. The food is the best I've had in Wellington, probably in NZ. As soon as we were seated, the champagne trolley was brought over... More

We had the most amazing dinner at Hippopotamus. We've eaten there before but this meal surpassed everything we've had in New Zealand in 10 years. The staff were lovely - nicely attentive but not intrusive. We ordered the French onion soup which was probably the best we've ever had anywhere in the world - and that's saying something. The way...
