Popped in today at lunchtime after a long walk with the dogs, the lady told me I was most welcome to sit on the deck with the dogs and they’d come to us, brilliant, warm, friendly, great coffee, chips were yummy and the view is...soo serene, good job guys, Thankyou for your warmth and hospitality, you really understand how to make people feel welcome, will be back XXXMore

Certainly can't fault the scenery and the tranquility of this place, well worth the drive. We had lunch, there were items on the menu that weren't available and the waitress pointed this out on arrival. Pretty casual place, casual service. Fish and chips were great...and the bruschetta topping was packed and yummy. Great place to visit.More

i visited and spent 20 minutes in november 2019 booking and sorting a table with a staff member. we were to be sitting in the corner of the balcony overlooking the lake at 12.30 on tues 18th february. 'we"being my family from australia who came...over for an event. on arrival our booked table was fully occupied much to our horror and to make things even worse the staff member couldnt have cared less so we left because of her total lack of caring or apologising to lunch somewhere else not many cafes can afford to send away a potential $200 or more. working in one of rotoruas top hospotality spots i would hesitate to recommend your cafe.More

The setting is picturesque and made up for a very ordinary eating experience! We ate on the deck overlooking Lake Tarawera on a beautiful sunny day. The food was disappointing, as was the service. The cabinet food was sadly depleted, so we ordered off the...menu. It was after 1.30, so latish for lunch, but over summer I would think they would have people wanting meals at all times and so would to keep the cabinet stocked. The staff seemed lethargic and off hand. We had to ask for water, then ask for cutlery once our meals came. The fish was rubbery and didn't seem fresh. However the views of the lake and the mountain made it all worthwhile.More

We had a very nice lunch at the landing. Seafood Chowder and The Wraps were very good. Service was just okay. Much to our surprise they couldn't serve wine as they didnt have a current liquor licence? Not sure what's going on. They need to...sort that out as we could see they had alcoholic beverages but were unable to sell any of it.More

This is the 3rd time we have been to this Cafe. This is an excellent spot to have a lunch, enjoy the ambience of the Lake front activities and take in the incredible view across the Lake to Tarawera

The cafe has a wonderful view of the lake. It overlooks the boat launch which is fun to watch. We were there for coffee, tea and a snack. The coffee and tea were great. The snacks were limited but the lemon slice we had was...perfect. They have a full lunch menu but we didn’t try it. Service was very friendly. This is definitely a place to visit. There is a small beach and short walks around the lake from the parking lot. Mount Tarawera is in the distance.More

We came with 5 of us (adults and teenagers). Service was friendly and down to earth - but the menu was pretty limited and the food ok but uninspiring. A good menu refresh, some better drinks and a great coffee machine and offering could make...this place shine as the view is out of this world!More

This is a superb location, and the service was great - but the food paled in comparison. Corn fritters were straight out of a box - and the box would probably have been tastier. My advice - go there and order coffee and cake and...just enjoy the scenery.More

This is potentially a great place, but they just can't seem to get it right. Kayaked there today for lunch as a group of 2 adults and a 4 year old. Waited and waited for food with a hungry child. Adults' meals came and were...finished but still no kid's meal. Other guests who arrived later served but still no kid's meal. Finally came 30 min after adult's meals. You just can't ask hungry 4 year olds to wait that sort of time for a simple dish of fish and chips. We are locals who used to go there regularly, and our daughter even worked there. We would love it to live up to the quality of the location, but over the years incidents like this have put us off so much that we hardly ever go there any more. When we do, more often than not we encounter similar problems with service or quality.More
