Our meal was delicious, well delivered and more than adequate. This was an intimate dining experience that was thoroughly enjoyable. *The bomb desert was radical but very rich in brandy.

We had high hopes for our meal at Bistro 1284 after reading reviews. The service was very scrappy so we were a bit worried. They were very late taking our drinks order( after the meal order) and we had to ask for the specials as did others seated around us. The waitress had very little knowledge about the beers etc!... This restaurant is a must visit in Rotorua if you are looking for something a bit "more upmarket" it is pricey but the food is beautiful. Great service too.

This restaurant is amazing. From the time you walk in from the time you leave. The staff are friendly, attentive and know their wine and food. From the entree all the way to coffee after dinner. The portions are ample and you leave feeling full and not having to grab drive through on the way home. This is a must... More

This is an excellent, small restaurant with personalized attention. The lamb was especially tender and the wine selection was excellent. Good food, good service, and we especially appreciated the ride to and from our lodging (the Black Swan Hotel).

DISAPPOINTMENT!!! Restaurant is small, hot day all windows and doors closed, no decor, no music , no atmosphere, no any impressions - only white starchy table clothes. Entrees - tuna carpaccio , scallops, and duck - "Edible Art" - toooo small portions and tooo expensive, main lamb - a little bigger. Only dessert - cheesecake - was "good" size. After... More

wife and I had a good meal here . It's pretty conventional , meat , lamb etc but it's high quality and we found the service friendly and informative . Better than many of the tourist traps here , makes a good choice for a nice evening out .

The restaurant was written up in a travel guide and it was well worth the walk. It is off the beaten track. The food is delicious and the decor is eclectic but it sure is worth going!!
