The best chai latte on our North Island tour! The lady who delivered it to the table was just lovely. The cafe is different, kind of quaint and yes the counter layout a bit old fashioned, but if the food and service are great that's a point of difference from the shiny modern cafes. There was a large group of... More

Went here today, really poor rude service, and an outright archaic ordering system. Two counters, two different order numbers (one for food, one for drink), and one rude man yelling loudly at us. Lots of food, hard to believe it is all kept fresh. Lots of seats, mismatched tacky and old fashioned tea rooms, the only nice part is the... More

Reasonable food selection and ok coffee. Hot chocolate not very hot even after asking for hot. The wait for coffee was way too long. Especially given cafe pretty empty. Nice selection of different types of seating. Nice view over the lake.

Good range of food available and lovely coffee. Seating available outside if the weather permits. Nice to have a coffee and a snack whilst looking out across the Lake. :)

Overpriced tea and the carrot cakes were very old. Could not even wait for us to finish our tea and the vacumn cleaner was wizzing around us. Not a very pleasant experience considering the price>Would not go again

Why would you bother? Oh that's right, it's the only place by the lake front not counting the overly priced burger van type of cafe further over. My suggestion is go somewhere else and get a coffee and food to go, then come down to lakefront and enjoy a great coffee and sandwich cake or whatever, from somewhere else.

Such an awesome location, yet that was the only good thing about the place. Burnt coffee & very overpriced. Ordered eggs on toast, received cold bacon, fried eggs overdone, and toast with jam on a separate plate. Service was terrible. All staff looked miserable and rude. Won't be back there.

Why hasnt the managment of this cafe done anything about the comments made about this place..probably because they dont care. I visited this cafe recently, eager to sit and enjoy the view , whle having lunch. What I experienced was very unpleasant and unacceptable, especially in a tourist town.I should have walked out when I opened the door to be... More

Cold curdled tomato soup, 45 plus minutes for a warm drink, chips that tasted like old fat, and a pie that had been obviously taken out of a packet and sold as fresh....not. Atrocious would not recommend to anyone not even worth one star. And certainly not cheap for reheated slop

Description
On the lake side of the community Soundshell building. We were there on Sunday, when the markets were on, so not sure how often it's open other than Sundays. It's like a bistro where you take a tray and select the slices, sandwiches etc from the slide-glass cabinets - like a Country Women's kitchen. Then you order your drinks - my BOWL of latte was fantastic. We sat at tables just inside the glass looking out, across Lake Rotorua but the tables outside were popular too. Very reasonable, great food...all the locals seemed to be there!
