Not the best Chinese I have had. Spring roll was dry, chicken stir fry very ordinary. Waste of money.

I believe this is the only Chinese restaurant/Chinese takeaway in Paihia. Nice but pretty average. Their self named combination rice and roast duck, light on meat, heavy on bone and fat. Skin not crispy. Enjoy an excellent craft ale pint at the wonderful Bad Habits...whilst you wait.🇬🇧🇳🇿More
This place was recommended to us by our host, and we’d never have found or tried it otherwise. It’s a fairly garish Chinese in a lane way off the sea front so not the best of settings, but oh the food ! They have a...buffet ( which to be fair they restock regularly & looked good enough) but we wanted fresh cooked so went a la carte ( reservation advisable). The food was fresh and gorgeous! We had half a roast duck ( beautiful), dumplings - great, then hot and spicy king prawns ( delicious, large and just spicy enough) with mixed vegetables stir fry ( absolutely superb - cooked in garlic & chicken stock) with rice. We couldn’t stop eating the food it was so good ! A bottle of half decent Chardonnay washed all this down. $150 all in - great food, taste and value. Best Chinese either of us had had for a long time. Go !More
Went with friends who were having dinner there last night. I was either not going to eat or just have an entree as I had little appetite and dont really love chinese. Made the mistake of taking one small bite of partners garlic bread and...immediatly waitress came over and insisted I pay $37 for the buffet I didnt want - an expensive bite. Ps small buffet selection would have been expensive for what they had even if I wanted to eat it.More
Caught our own Kingfish and John Dory and the restaurant cooked this brilliantly. Sashimi, sweet and sour and lightly battered for the Kingy and the John Dory on the sizzling plate with garlic, ginger and veggies. Reasonable cost.
Terrible rxperience here tonight! The resturant advertised ala carte menus as well as buffet. We asked for ala carte and were seated. Shortly after that, the hostess was telling people it was only buffet! My wife and I waited over 20 minutes and no one...ever came over to our table so we got up and left. Skip this place, there are many, many better resturants.More
Food was delicious, we had the buffet and everything was fresh, hot and reasonably priced, my only concern is with everyone using the utensils it’s not very covid safe, I know life has to get back to normal and they did have sanitiser at the...start and end of the buffet line but it still is a little disconcerting after learning how quickly and easily it can be spread, we made sure we sanitised before and after we went near the food and before we actually ate anything, otherwise it’s a great little restaurant, they were totally booked out with not a spare table in the place but they kept up with demand easilyMore
Decent Chinese restaurant in this small town. They have fresh hanging barbecue meals. I suggest you avoid the 4 item boxed lunch, dinner. We did not try the buffet. The crispy pork was very crispy and hot. The soy sauce chicken had good flavor. We...had bbq rice plates and they do come with vegetables for under 20nzd.More
Oysters were rationed – staff brought oysters to table for each person wanting some. Were talked into the $37.50 buffet instead of a la carte. Very poor selection available in the smorgasbord buffet at the time we were there (early evening). We have been to...several Chinese buffets previously in our travels and knew not to expect top quality selections but were very disappointed in what was available – mostly vegetables, quick fried finger food, not much seafood and a few meat dishes, not even any rice. Very bland, ordinary and average quality. Was quite busy at the time so obviously the locals were quite satisfied with their Chinese. Staff were friendly and helpful.More
Staff and service was friendly and helpful. We've eaten here twice and loved it each time. We came before they were closing, so we were invited to take doggie bags home from their buffet bar. How thoughtful. At least we all know they only sell...fresh food!!!More
Love a Chinese smorgesboard, this one was exceptional. So much choice, constantly being topped up, still had salads for those that wanted, fish was the best ever, as was the pork belly pieces. And to finish off with some soft serve ice cream , and...sauces, other puddings were also available. Top NotchMore
King Wah is our go to restaurant in Paihia. The food is authentic and delicious. There is so much to choose from. If you love oysters this the place to eat. I love thedumpling and dipping sauce. Come, enjoy you won't want to eat anywhere...else!More
stopped in 30 mins before closing and they had smorgasbord We were able to eat and be out by closing Hreindly staff
Hair in food. Extremely over crowded and cramped. Carpet appalling. We had 9 children in our party and they went to the toilet and came back to all their food thrown out. We were asked to leave after 45 minutes to free up our table...for the next booking (after being told we couldn't book over the phone because they don't do bookings) staff treated us like we were eating too much food. Like we hadn't paid or something. Don't go here. YuckMore
No favour in the black bean beef or combination chow main. Just bland lovely service but dont go. . ....
