We visited for a light lunch on a Sunday. Limited selection of counter food, and of average quality. Very poorly managed and serving staff not very friendly. We waited over half an hour for our counter food to arrive, watching others wait patiently and also...not get served. Those who complained got prioritised sooner than us. Don’t visit, very poor.More

Nice food and okay drinks but very wasteful! Butter came in a small plastic pot and both drinks had plastic straws and lids even though we had them in store!

We stopped into Gloria Jeans for a coffee, and to escape a rain shower, and found the cafe to be spacious and inviting. The coffees and frappes are a little on the expensive side (almost $9 for a large frappe), and both drinks were heavy...on the sugar. They had very little in the way of cabinet food too. We were hoping for a slice of cake, or perhaps a muffin to go with our morning tea, but the selection was slim, and uninspiring.More

This place was recommended to us as a place that would be good for coffee and sandwiches. We entered the restaurant and it was crowded and the staff were busy, but the tables were not cleared off and the floors were dirty. We ordered croissant...sandwiches and they were not fresh and were hard. We would not go back.More

As alot of eateries around Auckland was closed on the Anniversary Day, me and my partner decided to check Gloria Jean's out for a late brunch/early lunch. We came during an afternoon lull (the place was maybe half full at most). We immediately noticed that...neither of the two staff seemed particularly busy, yet all the empty tables were uncleaned, filled with used plates cups and cutlery. Birds were flying around the place eating half-finished food off of the dirty tables. Granted this is not uncommon in New Zealand, but neither of the two employees on duty made any attempt to clean the tables or even shoo the birds away the entire time we were there. As there were no table menus we immediately went to place our orders at the counter. Both of the two young staffers on duty were standing directly in front of us yet made no attempt to acknowledge us before several minutes had passed. They were both seemingly bored, killing time and making smalltalk amongst themselves while they had two customers RIGHT in front of them! The young man finally took my partner's order without a single "hello", "please" or "thank you". After taking my partner's order both staff kept doing their own thing without taking mine. After a further couple minutes had passed the young girl finally acknowledged me. I asked if the kitchen had closed and she clearly said yes. I asked if their only option was the cabinet food and she again said yes. The cabinets were almost cleared out by this point but I placed my order and we sat down. Atleast she smiled while interacting with me, which is more than can be said for her colleague. The food and drinks we got were almost impressively average; so flavourless and boring the only thing really worth mentioning about it is how the halloumi baos had been ludicrously overheated. A problem I imagine is attributable to the microwave I see mentioned in several other reviews here. Here's the icing on the cake, though: While we were eating our "meals" another customer walked to the counter and started ordering things from the menu - aka, things which would need to be cooked in the kitchen - and they took her order no problem! WHY would they tell some customers that the kitchen is closed, while happily taking kitchen orders from other customers?! We promptly got up and left. All in all, this place damages the image of NZ hospitality as a whole and the level of training it gives its staff seems to be an absolute disgrace. In short, DON'T GO HERE.More

We were exhausted from our walking tour and we needed to use the wifi, so we sat a while with out coffee and it was good. They had a lot of treats to sell, be we resisted.

This is a chain of coffee stores, but they do a good job of serving your favorite hot beverage and some treats. Some comfortable places to sit and good wifi.

The coffee and the pastries are generally good here. Unfortunately, they have no way of heating pastries other than the microwave; microwaving makes lovely baked goods into mush. Other GJs have better provisions for this. Additionally, and worse, there is cigarette smoke everywhere. The biggest...draw of Gloria Jeans "flagship" café on Lorne Street is the lovely, tree-shaded courtyard of Khartoum Square. Under Council rules this year (2019), no smoking is permitted at these outdoor tables. A month ago all the tables were clearly labeled "NO SMOKING". Those signs are now gone, and smokers sit wherever they want. One of the employees was actually sitting on the steps of the café, right by the door, so that even indoors one could not escape the smoke. They need to do better.More

We ordered two small take away coffees which cost $9.20. When we received them they were not even like warm. There was an open large rubbish bag sitting in the middle of the cafe. Never going back!
