A good opportunity to experience a range of Japanese dishes. A party of four, we went for the banquet which was great. Starting with "Edamame" (boiled soy beans) then a selection of starters to share, sushi, "Ebi Fry (Tiger prawns) and then mains of chicken & beef. The dishes just kept coming and all served to share and all delicious.... More

Three of us had dinner here. Parking was difficult, but once at the cafe it was suggested that next time we park in Sandringham Road and use the railway overbridge to reach New North Road. Good idea. We were warmly greeted by the barman and wait staff, and quickly given menus and water. We ordered two shared dishes at a... More

I love Japanese food and while this was certainly not the best I've had, it was still bloody good. The atmosphere was great. Fine dining service but the owner brings a lot more charm and humour to the table. Prices were standard. The small sharing dishes soon fill you up if you are going with that option. Also very handy... More

The service at Taiko is above and beyond anything I have ever experienced. Ian goes out of his way to ensure all his customers have an outstanding meal. I had a large group of 25 people and everyone was fed a delicious meal and catered for with their individual dietary needs. Thanks Ian for making my birthday dinner such a... More

Been here a couple of times and enjoyed the food both times. Staple Japanese dishes on menu but with a little twist. A little pricey compare to your average Japanese. However you get what you paid for. Great quality food with excellent ingredients. Good service.

Came here based on tripadvisor reviews. Wasn't disappointed, the food was very good with a nice selection of dishes all portioned to allow you to share. Try the beef tataki and the steamed broccoli, realy good. Also had the nigiri sushi, and the tempura prawns. Couple of glasses of wine and a great night - except the night we went... More

We had dinner at this restaurant when at the cricket at Eden Park and were pleasantly surprised.I worked for a Japanese multi national and know good Japanese food when I eat it .The salmon sashimi was excellent and we had Terriaki which again was excellent all washed down with a glass of Sapporo beer! I cant think of anything better.
