We visited on a warm, sunny day. We purchased fish and chips for 3, some coleslaw and squid rings. Fish Ok but squid chewy and tasteless, salad soggy and awful. Expensive at over $100. Courtyard dining was so tacky, not enough shade, scruffy, dirty shared...tables, but the worst was a huge screen playing events from the 2022 Winter Olympics. Why on earth, mid summer did we want to be watching downhill ski-ing. Why did we even need this on. We couldn't wait to get out of there, depressing horribly scruffy place, will never go back.More

I went there on a Sunday so it was busy with families getting their lunch. There was not a long wait for the food. The fish was nicely cooked and not laden with fat or oil. There was salt and pepper available and malt vinegar...to put on your chips. That's something I've not seen elsewhere.More

We reached Auckland Fish Market before 11am and only this place that serve fish and chip was opened. Fish and chip here better than many places we tried although not the best. The fish was fresh. But deep fried octopus tentacles was very good.

We went there to have fish and chip lunch, which we expected something similar or better than in London, but was much lower than in the UK. The quality of fish and chip was terrible. We had to pay for tomato kechap for $1.

Freshly caught fish, served with fried calamari and chips and a slice of lemon. Delicious. Also fresh fish available to buy and take home.

Quite a scene down by the wharf. Extremely noisy. Not exactly on the waterfront. Food was average. The fresh prawns were good sized. Fish n chips typical.

Waking along the quay street and along the water towards the new renovated wynyard quarter with a lot of new architecture and plenty of restaurants we found this place on the other side of the Auckland fish market, the only restaurant being opened since the...fish market was close on Sunday. The place is a bit off from the restaurant mile but still crowded. All food is fresh and good prices, very good prices actually. You can not only buy fresh fish but also have warm food. We loved our fish&chips. If you expect a fancy restaurant don’t go there otherwise try it out, we loved it.More

We deliberately made a trip there to try the fish and chips and were disappointed. We tried practically all the different types of fish available and concluded it was an average fish and chips joint. It is a far cry from Gibbo's On The Wharf...at Whakatane.More

Ordered Snapper (extra price above 'fish of the day') and Chips x 2 for a quick Saturday night dinner. Oceanz was busy so there's no reason the Fish and Chips should be less than the best; oil would be hot and fast cooking. But the...Fish was quite small and batter overcooked and the Chips were bendy and soggy and some were cold. Very disappointed in our last 3 visits. Maybe new owners? We can't recommend Oceanz any more and we used to proudly call it the Best Seafood and Chips shop in Auckland, always fresh and always perfectly cooked with extra piece of fish if the main piece was small. we won't come again.More

This is a must do for fresh seafood and fish. We purchase on Friday night for our weekend platters of sushimi and smoked fish. Absolutely delicious!

My husband and I ate here for dinner a couple of nights ago. We were staying in motorhome in Westhaven Marina (Z Pier) and had gone for a walk to Wynyard Quarter, Viaduct basin area etc. Stopped for Fish and Chips on the way back....Tho a little pricey the food was great, lovely light batter on the fish and lovely crisp chips. As it was a cool evening we sat inside on the wooden barbecue tables. Pretty basic but it is a fish and chip shop after all. There were several others dining also. And the place seemed reasonable busy with other come in for takeaways. On a warmer evening or earlier in the day there is a covered in seating area just opposite the shop, which would be good to be seated at. Overall impressed with quality and taste of mealMore

Sat outside to eat our whitebait fritters and chips - area needs upgrading but our lunch was tasty, though didn't appreciate the number of begging sparrows that were circling around.

Oceanz is one of those establishments which relies on its heritage and has done little to improve its offering and now looks positively dated. Arrived to find a longish queue, which experience has taught me is no guarantee of quality. I went for a fish...and chips / mussels combo and added the scallops as a side. The chips were average at best, as was the fish with the batter being very oily rather than crisp. The mussels and scallops, also deep fried in batter, were shockingly bland and indistinguishable from each other except vaguely by their shape. The only saving grace is that the meals are reasonably priced in expensive Auckland.More
