Attentive staff, varied menu and good specials. I honestly googled restaurants near my hotel after a long day of sight seeing. This came up at 6 mins away so I was sold. I was not disappointed the staff were attentive without being over the top,...the menu was varied with great specials. i choose the pasta special & it was delicious. They also have a good wine list too! This restaurant works for solo diners, couples and groups equally though booking is essential!More

Dining at Apero was absolutely a 5 star experience. The cozy atmosphere felt like an intimate Bistro in France. Brick walls and wood floors with tables spaced for privacy yet the vibe is alive with patrons enjoying their night. Apero was hands down our best...dining experience of our 5 weeks traveling in wonderful NZ. Co Owner Mo introduced himself right up front and gave us robust description of the eclectic menu. We gave him some feedback on our preferences and asked him to take it from there. Was that the best decision. The night unfolded with 5 small plates and wine pairings that were an absolute treat. The chef, Leslie is Mo’s wife and CoOwner - she and her team created a memorable meal that is second to none! Our waiter Jasper made us feel relaxed and comfortable while providing suggestions and friendly banter. You have to enjoy the experience for yourself at AperoMore

I found that the taste of some dishes was destroyed by the sauces. One example is the lamb. Beautifully seared and cooked but may as well have been smothered in marmite as the jus was over reduced. The smoked salmon was killed with the soy...sauce. The chefs need to relax a bit and let the produce do its thing. Service was a bit over bearing for me but cant say lacking. Potentially very goodMore

Food exceptionally prepared, we enjoyed sharing several plates - goats cheese croquettes delicious, burrata very flavorful, roasted cauliflower was exceptional, pork chop was succulent. Wine selections paired very well. Our server Jasper was personable, helpful with menu choices. The owner Mo was very welcoming.

Very friendly staff and lots of knowledge about the wines and food they serve. Great ambiance and the staff comes at the right time at your table if you need something. Definitely try the ‘Special’ with fig.

We are Aucklanders and this was our first visit to Apero (after having been - shame on us, we have been missing out!!) Cute boutique wine/ food bar on K Rd. Good varied menu with various sizes of plates. Sharing or none sharing options as...well as meat / veggie options. Amazing service by the owner Mo and also our other waiter - high level customer service and engagement. Delicious food with a good assortment of wines from around the world. Hubby loved the sausage. Big thumbs up. We will be back!!More

Returned after an absence of about a year and this place continues to delight the palate with a mix of old favourites and new delights on the food menu, together with a sumptuous wine list that will delight all, with reasonably priced high quality local...and overseas offerings. They have created a restaurant with a great ambience, coupled with front-of-house staff that know how to look after you well.More

Small but fabulous menu with delicious and interesting plates of food that were ideal for sharing. Lots of local produce. Amazing wine list with lots of choice by the glass too. Excellent info and service from the young waitstaffer. Simple but classy and thankfully no...one taking selfies of their meals!More

Been wanting to try Apero for awhile now. First impressions weren't great as we entered and stood at the crowded entranceway for several minutes with no one greeting or even acknowledging us. Secondly they seated us at the doorway with a "blast freezer " breeze...hitting us every time someone opened the door. Thankfully they did move us when requested. Food was wonderful I have to say and service was very friendly and helpful when we received it ( which I have to say was sporadic). Great food as I said and need a little tweaking on the service.More

The food was delicious and beautiful small shared portions my favorite was the goat cheese cricket and the Barata. The atmosphere was dark almost candlelit with cobblestone walls which made it extremely romantic. The staff was super friendly and helpful making it a wonderful experience....I can’t wait to go back!!!More

This is the first time we tried Apero and the food is not only mouth-watering and delicious, but the service excellent and the atmosphere buzzing with people enjoying the menu, including one of NZ's well know chef! To start, we had the the roasted cauliflower,...falafel and Goats cheese croquet, followed by Spanish ham (Iberico Palete de Bellota) and house made pork sausages. To finish, we tried the stone fruit ice cream sandwich. Divine! It's not a big restaurant so best to book ahead to avoid disappointment. We were there on a Sunday and it was fully booked.More
