Been here twice now once in 2011 and again just in december 2013 both times eating in the cave downstairs. The food is amazing, gets brought out very fast and full of flavour. The meat kebabs are especially nice and the kumara coated in almonds. Would go there again in a heartbeat! Well priced too

Nice place to stop by to enjoy a few nibbles and they take into account if you are in a rush to go off and see a show.

We went here late on Saturday for a "light" dinner and ordered their sushi & sashimi platter which was abundant and generous. There were 2 each of the 5 sushi options and 2-3 of the 10 sashimi options plus 2 fresh oysters. The platter was delicious and fresh. Also ordered seaweed salad, edamame and miso on the side plus a... More

The sushi bar at street level is nice - good fun to watch them making everything. But the real action is in the 'cave', downstairs (separate door at street level). It's always really busy, but serves great yakitori. Good value too. Yum!

Nice cosy little restaurant. It was a bit cramped the night we went, but the quality of the food and the service of the teppanyaki chef made up for it.

This is a review for Tanuki Sushi on street level. We did not venture to the "Cave" yakitori bar but I kind of which we had instead. The best thing I can say is that I felt the presentation of the restaurant and the food was authentic and the chef did a great job with presentation of the sashimi platter... More

I LOVE Tanuki's Cave! I have been there many times now and think the Cave has such a great atmosphere. The staff are friendly and efficient, the food is fantastic, full of flavour and comes out fast! One of my favourites is the mashed kamara coated in crispy almonds - go see for yourself!!

We were attending a concert four doors down at the Town Hall so it was perfect. We ate at the sushi and sake bar on the street level as opposed to the sister restaurant downstairs. The service was prompt and efficient. The food was fresh and delicious. The décor/atmosphere is OK, very casual. They let us use our Entertainment voucher... More

I have been at Tanuki's sake bar many times past a couple years and I would say, every time we order our food it comes on time and as we request. Delicious and healthy finger food. Highly recommend it.

We really enjoyed our meal at the restaurant. It was a lot of fun as the restaurant was vibrant, lively and full of people. The food was spectacular and delivered with efficiency and smiles. The restaurant is close to the Rendezvous Hotel and definitely worth a visit.
