Were there to celebrate an occasion for a friend. You picked on one person in the group suddenly and refused serving him without any warning or explanation. Ruined the rest of the evening.

Did not enjoy my food the second time, had the seafood fettuccine, was abit disappointed as it ddnt meet my expectation I should have stuck to the seafood platter.

Great ambience and decor, great food, very warm and friendly service Somewhat difficult to track down due to its isolated location and convoluted access, but definitely worth the effort

We hadn't been here for years so decided to go back and weren't disappointed. The place was buzzing and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Not long after being seated we were brought drinks and our orders were taken. The food was delightful and...plenty of it. Everything about this restaurant is to like from the location to the staff and the food presentation and the restaurant itself. A must visit when in Auckland.More

The atmosphere was just what we were looking for. It is situated at a large marina with a fun crowd and good food. Service was excellent and the food was delicious. Not much else to say, it was a great experience.

If you like fresh seafood, you’ll like Swashbuckler’s. My wife and I went for dinner. Both of us had a different catch of the day. The fish was well prepared and delicious. Beware that trying to book a table can be very difficult. The restaurant’s...website will not confirm a reservation, but will send you an email if it is accepted. And instructions on the website to call the restaurant will result in you not being able to reach anyone. They don’t answer their phones.More

Great location on the harbour, well away from the main tourist strip. Lovely waterside deck, a rustic pub and restaurant attached to the side. Great bar food, battered shell fish etc. with full menu in the less charming restaurant. Wonderful to be back after an...absence of 3 years.🇬🇧🛩🇳🇿More

My wife and I decided to go to go to this restaurant today for lunch. We had a great lunch. I ordered scallops in a moray sauce as an entree and snapper pan fried as a main course. My wife ordered a seafood platter for...one, which was huge and she could hardly finish it. My scallops moray was wonderfull and my snapper was pan fried and delightful. I can highly recommend this seafood restaurant. You should book it first or be early. We arrived at 12-30pm, it opens at 12, we didn’t have a booking so we had to eat in the bar. Rustic setting, lots of old memorabilia, and great seafood.More

It is nearly four years since we were at Swashbucklers and five of us enjoyed anoter very good seafood dinner there - a dozen oysters for me , followed by the excellent grilled Cajun tuna.

Beautiful location right next to the beach, so beautiful at night with the bridge changing color. If you’re a sea food lovers like us this is the place to go but saying that if you’re a steak lover as well the perfect steak you can...have it there as well. The service is good we were looked after by Jess she’s awesome she’s lovely Thank you Jess. Thank you to the chef for my steak cooked to perfection ( I love medium rare) but I don’t get a perfect one all the time but last night was the perfect one. I recommend this restaurant to families friends also work functions cos I see there’s a bar on the other side of the restaurant. It’s so beautiful at night. We really enjoyed our dinner last night.More

Title Rustic Rewind is exactly that! Glorious days of 90's big plates family dining! When you go to a seafood restaurant for FISH you do not want to be served chips with a little bit of fish. Well Swashbucklers is all about the FISH portions,...so much so that you order a bowl of chips to go with your meal as an extra. Dined on a Friday night, buzzy place with little pub bar full of fun people. Shown our table, and felt we had gone back 25 years in the decor of this restaurant with big fish tanks, older style captains chairs and tables, wait staff immediately bought water and menus to table. Huge menu, our first choice, prawn cocktail, huge amounts of shrimp, easily shared for two, other half choose Scallops in Mornay Sauce and G Bread, and I choose John Dory cooked in butter sauce. Huge plate of scallops, delicious and my John Dory was 2 large pieces cooked perfectly.......only a side salad on plate, no chips so we ordered a side of chips and veggies also. Well this was extravagant! such big meals that we really didn't even touch the side dishes, every thing was amazingly fresh and perfectly cooked. Noticed most diners left a lot of their meals as the portions are BIG. Attentive wait staff, extremely professional owner working hard throughout the restaurant all night, great selections of cocktails, wines and drinks. Our night was fantastic, we ate beautiful FISH, and drinks, wine and meals cost $150 NZ dollars. NB Make a booking, and if you travel by taxi here, make sure you get the drivers phone number as this restaurant is located in the industrial working dock area, and there is no transport around . we messaged our taxi driver for p/u and cost was $20 return to the VIADUCT Hotel. Loved it all, next time in Auckland this restaurant will be our first choiceMore

We stumbled across this place whist wandering. It was about to open at 12, so we sat outside and waited. It got busy quick, which shows its popular. Staff were efficient and bar snacks OK.

Our slightly frazzled (jet lagged) family were very well looked after by the lovely team from start to finish. We booked by email months earlier as we had heard great things and were thrilled with the meal. We had oysters, shrimp cocktail, John dory and...snapper and the overall freshness, quality and flavour of the meal was sensational. Having been very fortunate to travel the world we can safely say this was the best seafood we have ever had. Our kids picked from their own neat little menu and we couldn't help trying their fettuccine, which was gorgeous. A real little gem if a place with character, purpose and a lot of heart. Lots of locals who clearly are in the know. Given the difficulties that restaurants face these days, usually staff shortages, I can't begin to imagine how hard this can be to maintain standards....but they sure do. It takes a little bit of navigation to find it, but that's part of the appeal. Many thanks and best wishes for the future.More

We struggled to find somewhere to eat in the CBD until we found his place online. They were jam packed and had a function on too but they managed to fit our family in and so pleased they did. It has a mostly sea orientated...menu but we found something for each of the family (which is rare) and it was worth the walk. The kids menu had a range of options to please all of them, and the steak meal my husband and I had was AMAZING. Best steak I have had in years and they even accommodated our sauce preference on the steak (making it for us). Would have no doubt in going back here next time we visit Auckland.More

This popular restaurant never fails to deliver, arguably the best seafood restaurant in Auckland our meal was fantastic as was the friendly attentive service. The John Dory was sensational.
