We went for a family celebration of grandmas birthday, booked well in advance (about a month ago) online. Stated explicitly online we would be a party of 10 with 3 children, one of who was a baby and therefore needing a highchair. We are aware...sugarclub is not usually a family restaurant so we even called about a month prior to make sure they were aware we would need a highchair. On arrival we were promptly told there are no highchairs available-they do not supply them as a rule. We were then told they are not a family restaurant and do not usually cater for children. We subsequently filled in a form to gently make them aware of the miscommunication, but again were met with the standard 'we do not cater for children, we are not a family restaurant'. We are aware you are a fine dining restaurant, which is why we communicated early on in writing and verbally. To be told that was fine prior then told a different story on arrival is not good enough.More

Awesome place! We managed to perfectly time the sunset on a beautiful Sunday evening, the Sugar Club had a great atmosphere, nice setting and views, great team especially Charlotte who took great care of us! Food was delicious; great sized entree and main with sides...of vegetables was just right! Deffo recommend for a special night of dining 👌More

My girlfriend and I had such a lovely time here, and enjoyed everything, from the service, to the views, to the food and drinks, and also the fun attitude of our excellent server, Adele

This was our first time here as we normally go to Orbit, but as it was for a "big" (50th) birthday we thought we would splash out. The location speaks for its self and the views are fantastic, the service was good, very attentive. The...food was good and was presented very well, although it didn't really have a lot of 'wow' factor considering the price. But what really let it down was no dress code? This is meant to be a high class establishment, however, shortly after arrival there was a patron just leaving who was running around after a toddler while wearing a sports t-shirt, running shorts and trainers, looked like he had come straight from the gym and was still carrying his water bottle. We sat on the couch's to enjoy a cocktail, then the next patrons we faced were wearing gym gear! I am not kidding, one of the women was wearing short lycra gym shorts and tight lycra top and trainers! Then when we were getting ready to leave a family came and sat next to us with a teen-age boy wearing tatty jeans and a blazened black Metallica t-shirt! What parent would allow there kid to wear that to a high class restaurant? It was such a shame that they ruin the experience for us normal people who wear "good" clothes to a restaurant by not enforcing some sort of dress code. For a "fine dinning" restaurant, you certainly let yourselves down by not having any form of dress code or dress etiquette. The high class ambiance is certainly not the same when the patrons are in gym gear or extremely casual, those people would have been more at home at Denny's if they didn't want to make any effort.More

It was an 0 birthday so the family decided to go to The Sugar Club for dinner. Despite being an Aucklander I had never been up the Sky Tower. The carparking was a mission and I wouldn't have had a clue how to get to...the entrance to the tower. The meal was nice and it was good to see Auckland city from another angle.More

The service was good, but the food was somewhat of a let down. One of the first degustation meals where I have left wanting more food. What we did get wasn't bad, but it was not as amazing as the prices might suggest.

Dining with a great view, who can say No. When you dine in, which is included the sky tower pass, so make sure you visit the tower before you go for dinner, cause sky tower close at 8pm. We had a degustation set menu, food...was just ok, is not what we expected for the fine dining quality, but good service.More

Went here before dinner at Orbit. Classy bar. Felt like we were in a high society Gentleman's Club, while we drank our cocktails.

Fantastic views whilst enjoying your wine and dinner , service was good but the food a underwhelming experience . Had the degustation menu with wine match . Very small wine matched tastings , duck and Doris plum dish tasty, Fish dish - snapper was over...cooked, venison a tasty delight with pops of flavour , dessert was very disappointing certainly no wow factor . At a cost of over $ 400 for 2 people left feeling very let down .More
