The owner seems super cranky and the food wasn't very flavorful. Not worth the $$$ we spent, we were hungry afterward, avoid!

This place is On point! Been here once before and had to come back. The tomahawk, beef cheek and truffle mash got us hooked! Service is epic, cold beers and this time we tucked into the most amazing short rib, brisket, cauliflower truffle, kransky and...one tasty brisket burger! Can't forget the side sauces made up of jalapeños chillis and lots of green goodness! Vac paced a hole heap of Smokin Cole as we live in gizzy 7hrs away, definitely worth the trip!More

Loved this place and we shall return. A rustic and open restaurant facing down Richmond Road. Grab a roadside table if you can. Delicious food. Entry price wine on the high side so will get a beer next time. Friendly and efficient crew. 🇬🇧🛩🇳🇿

The beast was not worth $100 for 2... when it arrived we thought it was a single portion of meats and then sides. The mac had a raw floury grit to it. Disappointed that we wasted our date night here. Service was pleasant and prompt....Not recommended as value for money...More

Chef Cole is AMAZING - we had the privilege of meeting him and learning about his inspiration for this GEM of a BBQ Restaurant with multiple creative entrees to select from. Chef is a wonderful human being and puts the love into every dish -...you can taste it.More

Thoroughly enjoyable and delicious American style BBQ joint with a twist. The food is great, the vibe is fun, highly recommended

I enjoy this place more than most but feel myself picking gaps in the execution each time. Firstly great vibe and a true honest feel. At Louis ribs great on each visit, wings, work in progress to be epic, sides so/so, the meat bang on.

What a fun, small, casual neighbourhood joint. A fantastic addition to Grey Lynn which for the location lacks a lot of interesting dining options. The food cannot be faulted. We grabbed about 8 things to share in our group and there wasn’t one item that...we wouldn’t have eaten again. Provided with plastic cutlery we thought how’s this going to work? Well literally like butter. The meat is so beautifully prepared you don’t even need the knife. Not being a fan of spicy food I was a little concerned about the sauces but these were really nice and the spicy ones were on the side for those that like extra heat. We would recommend adding more carbs - just a simple bread dish would be great. The one and only downside was the price of alcohol. IPA beer $15, cocktails the price you’d pay at a fine dining restaurant $18-21. Based on that and that alone it does feel Too expensive to make this a regular event but the food was so good that no doubt it deserves a visit as often as your budget can allow. Because of the amount of different options on offer you want to get a group together so you can have a taste of lots of different cuts/styles/flavour. I’m not sure I could name a meat standout as they were all equally tasty but the beetroot and feta salad deserves a gold medal itself. Overall will definitely be back and take note - they do takeaway too!!!!!More

This is my partner's favourite place to eat in Auckland so naturally, for his birthday earlier this month, I booked us in along with 10 of our friends for a meat feast! Needless to say, everyone got what they wanted and left full. The atmosphere...was relaxed and perfect for our group. When the heavens opened, we were accommodated under cover. The service was good and the drinks flowed. We'll be back for sure!More

Outdoor area with the heaters were nice and I enjoyed my pulled beef rib but everything else wasn't as great. The waitress kept getting my order wrong and I had to keep reminding her of my orange juice. I ordered side fries and thinking it...was shoe string fries but it turned out to be waffle fries and no one told me. I hated the fact I was given paper plates and plastic utensils to eat with, along with paper towels and no serviettes. If I'm eating meat, I want proper cutlery... For 2 people for the total bill of $122 and I was still hungry, it was a rip off. I think I would've liked the food more if I tried their buffalo wings. If it wasn't for my friend, I wouldve taken my food back. Maybe the food was too blokey for my liking.More

Thanks to my friend who suggested this venue. 199% Brilliant and really smokin. Hard to know where to start when everything was brilliant. Walked in to a warm and fun welcome and it just continued to get better. Amazing dry rub ribs, sensational beef cheeks...possibly the best chilli con carne ever but wait these is more! Have to mention the slaw and the chips but alas I hardly left any room to enjoy the spicey buffalo wings. Congratulations Hard to know where to start when everything was brilliant. We stopped by for dinner since we were craving BBQ. They have a menu but what'd available depends on what hasn't sold out yet. The food menu is very interesting and everything sounds really tasty. The meats are ordered by weight and it comes out...on a tray as a sharing platter. We grabbed a 1/2 rack of rib, 200g of the meat candy, 200g of the short rib, 150g of the pork belly, 150g of the pulled chicken and a large truffle mac n cheese, to share between 4. The place isn't very big. there were 4 tables inside and a larger outdoor seating area. It was raining when we were there and the outdoor area was soaked but they were installing a cover for it so the outdoor area could potentially be used when its wet too. Everything was very nice and flavourful. The pulled chicken was really tasty and had a nice flavour to it. the ribs were dry cooked but weren't dry to eat. It also came with a nice BBQ sauce. The best was the meat candy. Delicious, sticky and chewy pieces of meat that was quite rich and tasty. The pickled kamo kamo that came with it gave it a nice balance. We started with 100g of the meat candy but ended up getting another serving because it was so good. Definitely one of the nicer BBQ joints in Auckland. The prices aren't too bad but it does add up especially since everything is so good. Come earlier to get all the food options and seating.More
