We arrived in Auckland in the 1st Jan so choice was limited, followed the reviews and ended up here. I have to be honest if you seriously rate the food here you really haven't experienced good Vietnamese cuisine, this was totally average at best.Staff and decor are good but I'm not looking to eat the wall. Its VERY expensive for... More

You need to be a sharing kind of person to really get the most out of this restaurant, as there are so many good dishes to try, and the best thing to do is go with 2 or 3 other people and order all sorts of delicious things and share. I have been there twice for dinner in the past... More

Arrived in Auckland and needed late dinner during the Christmas period. I was struggling to find a place that was open and stumbled on Cafe Hanoi. I would recommend this to anyone. The maitre d' put is at a bar which was crowded, which normally I would have enjoyed. However, given that I had been on a really busy trip... More

I have been to Cafe Hanoi a few times - although only for lunch never for dinner. As a lunch time place it is busy, vibrant and the food is tasty enough. I have been to Vietnam many times over the years as well and although the food is tasty and "Vietnamesey" it is not quite genuine Vietnamese cuisine.

Cafe Hanoi provides a taste of Hanoi, literally a taste, while leaving one with the feeling of having been taken for in the back streets of Hanoi. While the food was some of the better northern Vietnamese I've encountered outside of Hanoi, it simply does not commensurate with the outlandish prices being charged. *** Please also note that there appear... This establishment is well publicised and its popularity is evident by the number of lunchtime customers. Book to avoid disappointment. The food is good with prompt and efficient service. The frenetic activity in the kitchen is in full view (always reassuring). The warehouse style decor works and would not be out of place in Hanoi itself.

We went there with my friend for our last dinner in NZ, we were done with local food. ! Excellent place, looking like a saloon ! very good cocktails and nice trendy ambiance. I would definitely recommend the place for a nice evening with friends.

It's been a long time since our last date night. So, child-free and relatively excited about that, we jumped on the ferry from Waiheke and headed into town. We decided on Hanoi as it's close to the ferry - we certainly made the right decision. The place was busy when we arrived, but the maitre'd kindly advised us to grab... More

Busy, noisy, heaps of atmosphere, great service & food. We had two main dishes for three people as well as some pho soup for a starter, all was delicious!
