We went here for a quick dinner before going to seeing a show at the theater. All l can say is that we really enjoyed it. I had the duck for the first time in my life and loved it. The meal and the drinks were wonderful and we had a bit of live entertainment on the outside with bubblebee... More

I had dinner here with my husband on the 27 December . Fried rice consisted of boiled rice with a bag of frozen veg mix thrown in, a little fried egg and a couple of pieces of bacon. Chicken dish tasted solely of vinegar, not edible . On the positive, nice staff however they were let down horribly by the... More

There wasn't a lot open and it was raining, so we just decided on the first place we found that were still doing service. We thoroughly enjoyed the duck San Choy Bow entree and the Schezwan Beef and Mixed Veggies were very tasty. In fact the Vege Dish was one of the nicest I've had in a Chinese restaurant for... More

Quality to price is a horrible option. I stopped there to have late dinner with my girlfriend as many other options nearby had the kitchen closed already, and the food was really terrible. We were again surprised when we had to fix the bill. Try to avoid.

Had dinner with some friends and we chose the banquet. The food was delicious and there was plenty left over after we had finished. We started with the chicken and sweet corn soup, shared the four entrees between us and shared the four mains as well as the fried rice. Brilliant food, was very deceiving from the outside, actually three... More

Stopped by before a show. We were seated near the front window so we had a nice view outside. There was a table behind us with a child who was probably 3 or 4 and the parents simply had no control over him and his noise. Why don't restaurants ask parents to control their children? Very average food. It just... More

We were staying in Chinatown and had walked around earlier looking at menus plastered on windows. For some reason this one took our fancy and we dined here for dinner on a Sunday night. Other places were a lot busier so we weren't sure what to expect when there were so many empty tables. People don't know what they are... More

Great dumplings, good size, nice flavours and they just keep coming. Word of advice. Don't eat too many to early or you won't last the session!

We went to Chinatown specifically looking for a lunch deal. We found this one and it was delicious. It was $12.90 and consisted of 3 dumplings to start followed by a choice of main with fried rice, also included a drink (Chinese beer, a wine or soft drink) We could have mixed veg or pork and mushroom dumpling, we had... Visited as a 2 we shared a couple of entree's and a main, the meals were average. The service was good, I'm not sure I would visit again, there maybe better options nearby.

Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude a sense of Imperial China stemming from immigration over a century ago. In restaurant after restaurant on Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving up age-old recipes. The lighting may be unromantic, the patrons loud, and the service no-nonsense, but the food is sensational.
