We first visited this restaurant on our annual Melbourne visit last winter, and were so impressed. We love good home cooked Greek food, and the food in Tsindos reminds us so much of what we eat on visits to Greece. No nonsense, hearty food. Traditional dishes like Kleftika and Mousaka- the best we have had! Service ultra friendly and helpful-... More

Love this restaurant when I'm in Melbourne It's easy, friendly bit like a pair of comfy slippers. Staff are great, food predictably good, simple and tasty. This visit had the usual, calamari, kleftiko with a small side Greek salad and rice pudding to finish. All superb. For once I was in early enough to get the Kleftiko which is served... More

A party of 7 had the banquet which was served promptly and plentiful . Overall the food was fine without being outstanding. Seafood was nice but the squid could have been charcoal a little more. The chops were the best - salad spot on - small serving Service was really friendly and we sat upstairs in an area that was... More

This is our favourite greek restaurant in Melbourne. It has a friendly family atmosphere, the food and wine are always good, and it is value for money (especially the combination dish). Highly recommended.

Flew into Melbourne today and wanted a traditional Melbourne Greek meal. Tsindos did not disappoint. Wonderful friendly welcoming service and excellent food. My wife had the fish of the day which she enjoyed and I loved a mixed souvlaki. Two lovely Pikes red by the glass each and we left for a total of $100. Loved it!

This restaurant was reasonable, but nothing spectacular. We had the banquet for 2 and not overly impressed. Staff were great but the atmosphere was not that great and the food pretty ordinary. Wouldn't go there again.

Pop in here on a Saturday night without a booking and they gave us table even though they were very busy. Service was great and food came promptly. Very good food and typical Greek fare. Price was reasonable for city eatery.

Went for group dinner (9 people). Ordered mixed dips for all but only received 3 tiny plates of dips. Not enough. Nice bread though. Mains were very unimpressive. Some not available. Luke warm meat no charcoal effect. Dessert (baklava) OK. Wouldn't go again.

On arrival greeted by a lovely Greek gentleman and a lovely restaurant. Tablecloths! Yay! The waiter was great and gave us a run down of the specials and menu. The food was really good, tasty and very reasonably priced. Our group of 4 had no complaints, the restaurant you could just tell was family run with care. We have already... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Chinatown
Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude a sense of Imperial China stemming from immigration over a century ago. In restaurant after restaurant on Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving up age-old recipes. The lighting may be unromantic, the patrons loud, and the service no-nonsense, but the food is sensational.
