I dropped in for a quick lunch but stayed a little longer as the food and cold beer made me do it. Plenty of cheap lunch choices but this time chose off the menu. What made it for me though was the potato salad that was mixed at the table or in my case at the bench. The ingredients were... More

I paid $20 for about 5 small pieces of chicken (think doulbe the size of KFC popcorn chicken) and a bowl of rice. I waited about 30/40 mins. When the food finally came, it was terrible. Not recommended , plenty of other good options in that area

Very Small restaurant in Little Collins street in the heart of Melbourne Chinatown. I can recommend the Salmon Belly cooked in Soy. Emmy at front of house is a gem and makes you feel very special and looked after our party extremely well. She is good with her advice catering for you likes and dislikes and will help with the... We enjoyed the banquet meals and thought they were good value for money. We both thought the servings were plenty for an evening meal. Everything was top quality with the delicate flavours able to be fully appreciated. Service was very friendly and efficient.

we came here before the theatre. The owners were very inviting and friendly. The prices were really inflated. I had the seafood special which was one prawn, two small scallops and a chewy skewer of calamari, served with miso soup and a cup of steamed rice. Husband had the tempura with only one prawn. Our bill was $120 for two... More

Nice and friendly, good food (seafood or meat) on skewers. Small place with friendly staff, for reasonable prices. Loved it.

Having recently read a raving review in the Australian Financial Review, I was not disappointed on the service and atmosphere. But the food was very overpriced. For $40, the seafood special only delivered one prawn, two small scallops and two small tentacles of calamari. The rest was filler (rice, miso soup, a couple of pieces of asparagus wrapped in bacon).... More

I am sorry, but I have read through the positive reviews above & I can't say I agree. Personally I found the food just OK. I have eaten at Japanese restaurants before and I found this to be the worst. The meals sizes were very small considering the price. In fact we had 1 beer, 1 plum wine, stuffed shitake... More

This authentic Japanese restaurant is worth the price. Been to Japan, and have experienced the local eateries around. This restaurant embodies the Japanese cuisine. It is indeed a bit dear and people who are used to the cheap Japanese restaurants will be turned off with their price. Most of the so called Japanese restaurants around Australia are not real Japanese.... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude a sense of Imperial China stemming from immigration over a century ago. In restaurant after restaurant on Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving up age-old recipes. The lighting may be unromantic, the patrons loud, and the service no-nonsense, but the food is sensational.
