The pizza had changed since I was there the first time. Crust is VERY flat and dry, unlike the first time. The toppings were ok but not really generous or full of flavour. I had one with prawn, my husband had one with salmon and said it was just smoked salmon on pita bread, nothing else to say. The wine... More

This is a great little restaurant right off the mall. The food is great, the wine fantastic and friendly service. We returned to this restaurant twice on our quick trip to Melbourne

It's such a treat eating out in Melbourne. There is always something new to try and this lovely laneway of food next to the GPO on Bourke Street Mall is no exception. We went for lunch with friends and ordered pizzas, boulliabase and mussels. The service was friendly and the meals all arrived in good time. The food was fresh... More

Went to Ca de Vin because i had been there before and the food was amazing, but today they have disappointed with their bad service. Their female staffs were just rude and unhelpful. They looked like they didnt wanna be there. Yeh sure the place is popular but i dont want my night to be ruined by some unfriendly staffs... More

Great food and excellent service, in comfortable and cosy surroundings. Fantastic location - tucked away in the laneway beside the old GPO building.

Arrived on a rainy night with no booking and was squeezed in within 10 minutes. Ordered very quickly and food came out in only 10-15 minutes after ordering. I had the zucchini and salted ricotta pizza- was delicious! Beautiful thin home made crispy base- wait staff easily catered to my dietary requirements. My partner had a penne pesto chicken pasta... We asked a local where we could find a bar in the CBD when we arrived too early for a show. He took us to his favourite haunt Ca De Vin, which we would probably never have found otherwise. It is tucked away up an alleyway between the old Post Office and the Myers building. Going into it feels a... More

The use of space for this eatery is innovative and lends a sense of intimacy to the dining experience. The food was really tasty and well presented. The pizza was thin and very filling and a nightlight of the dining experience. The cocktails were also very good.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
