I had a Chicken Curry and a beer for $11. That is the best value meal I have had in Melbourne this year. Clearly this place is popular as there was a line out the door. After I ordered my meal was ready in about three minutes. Usually this would concern me but on this occasion where you could see... More

We decided to try this place as it was packed at lunchtime, quick order taken by attentive staff. Simple menu but with good selection of Bento or Don meals. If you like lots of chicken or beef then this is for you! Very generous with portions for the price. Great for price and location. High customer turnover. Can feel a... More

Spoilt by the choices of food available around Melbourne CBD, we decided to opt for some Japanese food. So yep! We chance upon this place. The restaurant was pretty small but we were surprised by the number of people who visited! The staff were pretty friendly too! Spoilt by the choices of food available, they were really patient with me😂... More

Cheap, delicious and quick food. Very busy as it's popular for a reason. The dining area is quite crowded but once you settle in, it's fine and the food and price makes up for any cramped dining. Order and pay at the counter, grab your food and then a seat. It's a well oiled machine.

Small dingy kind of joint but the ramen was very good and had more fillings than most other ramen joints. Price was also about 25% cheaper than anywhere else. Not the best ramen in Australia but value-wise it was top.

It is just unbelievable that I can actually get a good portion of Suki Soba that was delicious and well presented with this price. If you are looking for a quick and yummy lunch, this is the place for you.

This review is in relation to the dinner service, not Don Too's lunch time offering. It's unclear why DonToo is deserving of the praise it is receiving here, when there are similarly priced options in the CBD with better food and service for the price. The decor of the restaurant is pleasant, but that is the only nice thing one... More

Chicken curry don is delicious, very cheap and has a huge portion size. Bento boxes are also great value. Service is what you'd expect for such a low price, but meals are brought out very quickly. Similar to the one on Swanston St but a little quieter.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
