This is a busy restaurant with a good wine and food selection. While the gyoza were not all that impressive the beef tataki was excellent

We had been having post movie supper here for years. The grilled eggplant starters were partially cooked and flavourless. Seafood tapanyakis made up of mostly cheap squid pieces and muscles. Undercooked and bland. Presentation on plastic plates the last straw. This place needs to be avoided.

My favourite sushi in Melbourne. Kanpai is the only place I will go for sushi. I often take friends and staff from work. Friendly fast service with a smile always

My partner and I went here for dinner. We love Japanese food and visit Japan regularly. Can't get enough of it and so were hoping to find a little Japanese gem in Cairns. We were greeted at the door, and initially the service was prompt and friendly. The atmosphere and seating in a booth was nice, and we loved the... More

The food used to be good, have been going for a while and each time i visit it seems like an ingredient was dropped off the list. Cutting corners by lesser meat and such. Shame. Food is somewhat expensive considering the serving size given. Consider other restaurants, the food quality has fallen.

An average experience in terms of food and service, although in a nice location. Bit on the pricy side for the average food quality. Open till very late, which was the reason we went.

Lovely sashimi, teriyaki chicken and gyuoza. Very friendly service, good atmosphere. Food was prepared promptly and good value. Highly recommend the garlic prawns, with a little spice of chilli in the sauce.

We ate here twice as enjoyed the food so much, good selection and reasonable prices. It can get very busy, although there are more tables at the rear and most are for 2 or 4. The sushi was freshly and quickly prepared. service was prompt.

A good neighbourhood restaurant, catering to families and business persons, It was always busy and lively. It is long thin layout with more tables at the back and seating outside. The sushi was o.k. but the main courses were large and tasty. The prices very good We ate here more than once, so would recommend

Staying in Chapel Street

Neighborhood Profile
Chapel Street
Seek and ye shall find! Prahran is a treasure hunter’s paradise of vintage stores, upscale boutiques and emporiums. Chapel Street is a one-stop shop with specialty stores selling just about everything. The famous Chapel Street Bazaar has so many curious and vintage knick-knacks that you will feel as if you're in a huge and busy museum. By contrast, at the northern end of Chapel Street, South Yarra and Windsor cater to high-end designer labels and exclusive boutiques. The community flocks to Prahran’s organic markets as a Saturday ritual, while art and film students leaf through vinyl LPs on Greville Street. The gay community also has a strong presence here. Prahran’s heritage buildings like the Reads Emporium and Prahan arcade offer a grand sense of scale and history. No matter your interest, come feel the pulse of one of Melbourne’s most loved precincts.
