Had to plan a team outing for 20 people and came across this restaurant. I think this is a hidden gem in the CBD. It would rate really high in my rankings amongst Indian restaurants n the CBD. We paid $35 for veg deluxe banquet and $45 for non-veg. We also modified the main dishes in the banquet menu. Manager... More

The experience that was had at Nirankar Restaurant was really great. The food was as expected for spice level but if you would like it hotter they were only willing to please you. The Service was really good and BG's team were very attentive to our needs.

So it was our first day in Melbourne and we were tired of having cold airplane food on the 16 hour journey from India. We chanced upon this restaurant as it was about to close for the night ( 10 pm). The place is small with quaint tables , average clean dining area and bar. They serve indian and nepali... More

I recommend the Nepalese goat curry. It's amazing. Overall food was good. Service on the other hand was terrible. The restaurant seems under staffed. We waited for over an hour for our food to be served. People who arrived after us got served first. Bottom line don't go to this restaurant if your hungry.

I grew up in West Yorkshire, UK and so I have eaten a lot of curry. Like most people who enjoy curry that have moved to Australia I find myself continually disappointed by what is on offer. Every place just serves up the same dull thick brown goop with nasty gristly bits of meat. I had pretty much given up... More

We went there with another couple and we really enjoyed it. We took our own wine and although the restaurant wasn't very busy (it was a Monday night) we really enjoyed it. The curries, rice and breads were excellent and I will definitely go back when I come back to Melbourne!

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
