I used to have lunch at least 2 times a week at this pace. Love the sashi don. I came back to this place after a year, still loves it. The speed always amazes me. I missed the time when I could see the kitchen in action. It was an entertainment like a production line.

If you're in the centre and looking for good, cheap food, this is probably one of the best places to go to. However avoid going there during peak hours, otherwise you need to queue for ordering and a seat.

I was pleasantly surprised by this eatery. It's always so packed I have been reticent to try it. But it was terrific. Tofu Don for 6.50!! It was excellent And served lightening fast. Great for a quick lunch between lectures.

I ordered the beef Udon noodles. The dish its self was quite yummy, however the restaurant area is very dirty and un-kept. The floor was filthy, with grease marks all over the walls, birds flying around inside leaving a mess on the tables. The environment itself is very grungy. I personally wouldn't go back, I found it quite unpleasant regardless... More

Went for a quick lunch and ordered teriyaki chicken rice bowl. Even though the place was crowded, but food was ready within minutes and the taste was well worth the money! Will definitely come back again.

I bring my hubby and son had dinner here based on the good reviews, what a wrong choice! The food was ready less than 30 seconds, everything was self service. We ordered chicken curry rice set and sliced beef with soy rice set & salad, the chicken was over cook, it was too hard & dry; sliced beef was ok... More

Highly recommended place for value for money and quick service food. The teriyaki chicken rice bowl was tasty and I also enjoyed the cold soba salad very much. The location is also great.

Dropped in for a quick lunch after doing the bike tour with Steve from Melbourne Bike Tours. I had the chicken curry Don and a miso soup. It was very tasty and a substantial lunch that filled me up. All for under $9.50! That's what I call value. It's an eat and run type of place but way better than... More

In Melbourne this is a place I frequent very often. Chicken curry rice is my normal selection. The option to eat in or take away. This is a fast in and fast out type place. Don't expect to sit own and eat for a long time. Sit eat and leave, which is great for a quick meal with friends before... More

Lovely little quaint place that has only a few items on the menu, but they are more than enough - especially as they seem to do them all well. Prices are cheap and the decor is what you would expect from a Melbourne side street restaurant. Will definitely visit again and recommend.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
