The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seats. Even during the peak of winter, you will never feel cold as there is heating at every table. The food portion is big, the japanese food is fresh. The server is nice, gave us warm water as we are seated outdoors. Spoke to us regarding the current gaming hype on Pokemon Go and... More

This lovely restaurant is a delight in Federation Square. They have a menu that would suit anyone and plenty of vegan and gluten free options if you need them. The steamed noodle dumplings were a nice surprise from the normal type being all encased in brown rice noodles. Edamame was...well edamame. The Maki rolls were lovely and light and the... More

After a visit to ACMI, you can't go past lunch at this fabulous restaurant. The service is friendly and fast and of course the food is great - inexpensive, great choice, super delicious and comes quickly to the table. We ordered the set lunch box and paid an extra $10 for a drink and dessert - a pretty filling meal... More

The food at chocolate budda is Amazing! We had multiple vegan options as most of our group were Vegans. The japanese cuisine was tasy, delicate and healthy! The staff are very busy at chocolate budda but extremely helpful and friendly. The location is the middle of Fed Square so you are close to the action at all times. Prices are... More

Decided to give it a try as was craving for some Japanese food. Ordered some appetizers to share and a main each. Found the food to be alright, nothing exceptionally to rave about but it had a nice ambience.

We often eat here before heading to a concert. Although I found it not long after it opened years ago when I was working nights in town - so we'd run down there for a quick dinner. Always terrific food well prepared and ever so YUM !!

We chose this restaurant as one of my friends is gluten free. The extensive gluten free menu pleased him very much and we all enjoyed our food. The service was friendly and the atmosphere was busy on a Friday night but we could still talk easily. The tables are communal so probably not an ideal venue for a romantic dinner!

I brought my sister in law and our four children here after the movies. My daughter is coeliac and loves sushi so this is our go to place in Melbourne for an awesome lunch. Always great service, fantastic food and the wait is always minimal. Well done guys!

I will be honest, the name is what attracted me. And it would have been awesome if there was somewhere or how this theme continued in the restaurant. I was dying to see a dessert called chocolate Buddha. But even without that particular delight, it was night Japanese food in a popular location at reasonable prices. We enjoyed a nice... More

The food was delicious and reasonably priced. We shared two starters for 4 people. The eggplant with the wasbi/miso sauce was so delicious. The dumplings were hot and just right. Mains were teriyaki chicken, salmon, tofu ramen and they were yummy. Wine was reasonably priced as well. We all enjoyed our food. Will go back again as there were many... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
