Great food at the Buddha, Korean fried chicken the best option to go for. Taro chips, pork belly, tofu, tempura everything brilliants. Sushi and soft shell crab average. Plum wine compliments the lot. It is a squished seating arrangement, and you will rip through the $$$ though so take someone you like.

We have dined here over many years and have never been disappointed. Good food and wine offering. The restaurant overlooks Federation Square. I just wish they would bring back Bim Bim Bap! I'm really missing it!!!

The meals was wonderful and atmosphere inviting. It was a perfect spot to sit, eat and watch the hustle and bustle of the city.

Great location for Friday drinks and snacks. A little pricey but good food, served quickly. Heaters for outside fining was a bonus. Very friendly and helpful staff

Chocolate Buddha should be considered a Melbourne institution. This casual but elegant restaurant sits proudly atop Fed Square and it's usually open whenever I feel like eating. The never-fail food is delivered with speed and courtesy. Like the food, the drinks are reasonably priced, and the sake collection is particularly notable, especially the hard-to-find sparkling sake. Great at anytime, but... More

Located in the Federation Square, where the National Gallery of Victoria(Australia) is located, it makes for a perfect eating place after visiting the NGV. firstly, nothing too chocolate-y about the place, safe for a couple desserts. And if u r looking for an authentic Jap experience this will not be the place. That said, if you are just a tad... More

The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seats. Even during the peak of winter, you will never feel cold as there is heating at every table. The food portion is big, the japanese food is fresh. The server is nice, gave us warm water as we are seated outdoors. Spoke to us regarding the current gaming hype on Pokemon Go and... More

This lovely restaurant is a delight in Federation Square. They have a menu that would suit anyone and plenty of vegan and gluten free options if you need them. The steamed noodle dumplings were a nice surprise from the normal type being all encased in brown rice noodles. Edamame was...well edamame. The Maki rolls were lovely and light and the... More

After a visit to ACMI, you can't go past lunch at this fabulous restaurant. The service is friendly and fast and of course the food is great - inexpensive, great choice, super delicious and comes quickly to the table. We ordered the set lunch box and paid an extra $10 for a drink and dessert - a pretty filling meal... More

The food at chocolate budda is Amazing! We had multiple vegan options as most of our group were Vegans. The japanese cuisine was tasy, delicate and healthy! The staff are very busy at chocolate budda but extremely helpful and friendly. The location is the middle of Fed Square so you are close to the action at all times. Prices are... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
