Have been a few times for drinks and the menu looked good so we tried tonight for dinner, was OK northing special - asked staff for recommendations but just told everything is good. Great for a drink and possibly few bar snacks, really nice atmosphere etc but I think I would choose to have dinner elsewhere.

This is a small bar with a cosy atmosphere. There's seating at a few tables or along the bar. There's a great range of wines by the glass or bottle and an unusual range of tapas. I found the tapas to be expensive for the quantity, $6 per scallop is over the top! None of the tapas stood out and... More

We had a great time. Kids enjoyed the corner seat facing the road. Lovely service and a great selection of food. It was a great time to chillout /relax and enjoy and red wine.

This was our first visit but it won't be our last. We shared brussel sprouts with spicy meat pieces; roast cauliflower croquettes that were really tasty; grilled sardines with a currant salad topping and revueltos ( creamy scrambled egg with pimentos and capsicum. The wine choices were good and represented an interesting Victorian selection.

I had a family get together at Bar Lourinha and it was a great choice. The team and food was amazing and the venue were more than happy to arrange things for me with the shortest amount of notice. It was a great day, great food and great team, I would most certainly recommend this place for wine, nibbles or... More

This place is casually elegant. Safe place for drinks with colleagues after work. We had a staff function upstairs a while back so I've put it into the work category.

On a cold winter night, this bar has a wonderful atmosphere. It was really alive with everyone enjoying themselves. We had tapas with our wines and the food was great. Fresh oysters, octopus and the tongue was yum. We shared a dessert of panne cotta with pomegranate and pistachio praline and it was perfect. It was really full the night... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
