Staff really helpful, great food ... Not sure about the communal seating thing ......... But it's a small price to pay for great food :)

We knew from the website we'd have to take a seat and wait. Not a problem, the staff were attentive and brought us drinks and bar menu food to whet our appetites. From there it just got better - quite exquisite presentations and flavours, and a great wine menu to accompany the food.

Another amazing meal at the Longrain. Brought a few work colleagues who have never been here. They are super impressed with the decor, atmosphere, food and wine! Excellent ++

LongGrain restaurant is a restaurant which serves great quality food in an environment where patrons are encouraged to share. Tables are set up to encourage you to buy plates and share them with your friend rather than focus on individual serves (although that is still ok if that's your preference. The food quality is exceptional, as is the service. A... More

This place was humming! Thankfully we were able to book. I wouldn't go for a quiet romantic dinner it is very noisy but that all adds to the vibe. Service was excellent and the food exceptional. Luckily we were with friends who had been before and knew what to order. We shared various dishes which were all delicious. Would definitely... More

myself and a friend visited here for dinner one Friday night. The wait was about 45 minutes. Between us we couldn't find much on menu to share as we are both pregnant, don't eat red meat or pork. we ended up sharing the chicken coconut curry dish and the prawns. The servings were huge, and prawns were delicious. we had... More

Longrain is my favourite restaurant. Asian fusion. Hard to get a table but well worth the wait. Best to come early at 5.30-6pm or wait till 7.30pm. The food is amazing and great service is just as good. You can book a table if you have 6 or more people. Food is usually shared, this way you get to try... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude a sense of Imperial China stemming from immigration over a century ago. In restaurant after restaurant on Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving up age-old recipes. The lighting may be unromantic, the patrons loud, and the service no-nonsense, but the food is sensational.
