Dinner with a few associates while on a trip to Melbourne, one of the best evenings I have had out in a long time. Food was amazing, tasty, well presented. Could not fault the professional service. Highly recommend.

Mediocre service. Restaurant was not busy in slightest-Monday night. We were sat on communal table opposite another couple-rest of massive table empty. Awkward for both parties. Food wasn't great, certainly not for the price. And that was recommended by the waitress-wont be returning. Plenty more places to go.

We had a reunion of some sort made up of five couples on a Monday evening. The place was very dimly lit and therefore very hard to see what we were eating. The colour used for the restaurant was mainly dark and this did not help. The place was relatively full and if you don't have 6 or more people... More

Had the best time at longrain. While it may be on the more expensive side, it was definitely worth every cent we paid. The food was an incredible experience, as was the cocktails. Couldn't have asked for a better date experience, particularly as our waitress, who I believe was Kait, was unbelieavably attentive and knowledgable about the food and who... More

Best thai food we have eaten outside of Thailand! Only downside is we had to sit at a bar as they only do tables for 5+ or communal benches which for the style of place is disappointing as it's not cheap and would have had a nicer experience if we'd had a table. Having said that the bar girl was... More

Enjoyed a delightful meal with my daughter and her partner. Great sharing food, good wine, nice atmosphere. Really friendly staff too.

After standing just inside the doorway guessing this was the place to wait we had no acknowledgement or even eye contact by the staff.....after around 8 minutes of being ignored we were finally told it would be a 45-60 minute wait by a very arrogant man... What a shame that first impressions count for so much....we won't be back

For my 60th birthday I wanted a special dinner to share with special family and friends. This was our first experience of Longrain and our experience of the banquet menu didn't disappoint. Our evening started with pre-dinner cocktails, unique Longrain cocktails ! Our group of eight all raved over the unique, interesting and really tasty food, the banquet giving a really... More

The Longrain was near our hotel. We were so glad it was. The food was outstanding with generous portions. Someone sitting near us cautioned us about the size of the meals. Lucky for us they did. The food was so tasty that I probably would have finished whatever amount was brought to us. I heartily recommend Longrain.

Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude a sense of Imperial China stemming from immigration over a century ago. In restaurant after restaurant on Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving up age-old recipes. The lighting may be unromantic, the patrons loud, and the service no-nonsense, but the food is sensational.
