Shared table, shared meal where the food took centre stage. Although not obvious from the decor or he name, the cuisine is very much Thai using local produce. Serve size range from large to average and you really need the assistance of the serving staff to assist. A very satisfying experience.

One of my favourite Melbourne dinner locations, Longrain offers healthy, fresh, well cooked meals. Their cocktails are on point too, making for a wonderful night out!

I went to Longrain with a couple of friends who decided to join me in going for the vegetarian food and it was fantastic. A good number of options on the menu, most of which we ordered to share, including the egg net which wasn't on the menu as a veggie option, but the waitress said could be done with... More

One of our fave dinner spots and has been for years. Food is always excellent and the atmosphere is great - romantic but not boring. I actually love the communal tables! The service has improved a lot (or perhaps our waitress was just nicer than we've had before) which used to be the only let-down (didn't ever stop us coming... More

We did have to wait an hour at the bar but it's always pleasant. Great cocktails. Our two families had a lovely meal. The beetle leaf & prawn is a must-starter. The scallops & pork are sooooo yummy. Great service & great food. Not cheap.

Wonderful food and great setting- get there early as no booking and it gets busy and a bit loud. Food is divine.

This is a place where I keep going back for my faves- salt and pepper tofu, ceviche in betel leaf for starters, then caramelised pork hock for main. Curries are great as well. Don't mind where I sit, wether its communal table or own table, the venue always has a great atmosphere. Smart service, good wine list/ cocktails.

My husband and I ate at this amazing restaurant last night for my birthday. What a special treat. I love Thai/Asian food and on reading the other reviews on Tripadvisor, I could not not go. The restaurant is modern, great cocktails while you wait for seat with lovely snacks (prawn beetle snack a must) and our lovely waitress Harriette took... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude a sense of Imperial China stemming from immigration over a century ago. In restaurant after restaurant on Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving up age-old recipes. The lighting may be unromantic, the patrons loud, and the service no-nonsense, but the food is sensational.
