Nice atmosphere and good service in downstairs bar ahead of a relaxed lunch in first floor dining area. Suits both business people and casual visitors. Solid menu, moderate choice in wine but OK. Great service from staff, good quality meals in reasonable size portions. Value for money.

Had a drink in the downstairs Bar .. Great 5pm atmosphere. Then upstairs for dinner. Warm flatbread n Olives for starter (yum) followed by perfect salmon dish for me and veggie burger for my friend .. No pattie here just perfectly layered veggies in a bun. Top it off with wonderful wine and Apple n rhubarb crumble to finish off... More

Weekday lunch for two at Saint and Rogue. It is an inviting venue with wood panelled interior, lovely bar with variety of beers on tap, some natural light if you get spot at window at front, different seating/table choices. Downstairs dining, order and pay at the bar. Meals we had were the thai beef curry with roti bread, and the... More

This is such a great venue - whether you want a drink downstairs in the bar or a meal in the upstairs restaurant you won't be disappointed. The food was excellent, the service good, staff friendly and just such a great atmosphere - very Melbourne if you're a visitor.

Back dropped by a very lively and obviously very popular dinner spot, the upper deck dinning room is a fun night out for dinner. I had the Thai BBQ chicken and mango salad. It was very tasty with a unique blend of salad greens. My only negative note is that the portion size was a bit small. Definitely will come... More

Located in a nice classical stone building, old world pub downstairs and fancy restaurant upstairs. Came on a Tuesday night for the $22 steak and beer dinner and it was great value, above expectations. Waitress was very helpful in describing what was going to be served. We started with a pot of cold and crisp James Boag's and the steaks... More

Set in a stunning building the dark wood interior is the perfect accompaniment to a good food and wine menu and lovely food. It would have been interesting to have found out what the building was previously used as however when we asked the waitress she didn't know and said that she'd been asked many times before (We were surprised... Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
