Wanted a quick dinner and found this unique place. The staff fitted us in and I was amazed at the service for the food waiter recommending the new beef dish and Putting One aside for us. Then sent over the wine waiter who recommended beautiful French wines that you can get by a 1/2 glass! Food exploded in the mouth... More

Many people I work with rave about this restaurant, so my expectations were very high. Personally, I was a little disappointed with the overall experience, sadly. Our waiter was professional and happy to order on our behalf, but he lacked the warmth and genuine approach we have grown used to in Melbourne. The food was delightful, and the cocktails were... Food and service fantastic. We shared the food and let the chef decide a variety of different items. Nice atmosphere and very friendly staff.

The menu is designed to share. We didn't think we were very hungry but we managed to taste a number of delicious dishes, including dessert! All dishes were freshly prepared and bursting with flavour. The staff friendly and efficient. Not a cheap dinner out. About $80 a head including wine. Will definitely return to Coda.

This is my second visit. Pity we were stuffed from breakfast so managed only 2 some small plates and salad. Good choice of small plates and larger sharing plates. We had the scallops in a shell which were excellent - the combination of mushrooms in a lettuce cup was a good vegetarian choice and the tuna salad with just the... More

Started with a lovely glass on Pinot Gris, very enjoyable. We ordered four small plates to share between two. 1. Crab and prawn fried rice paper rolls - good but not memorable. 2. Moreton Bay bug on a betel leaf - great, most definitely the highlight. 3. Pork Hock which was nice, but a little dry. 4. Yellowfin Tuna Salad... More

A good place to look for a hip and yum food. Western dishes come with Asian touch. Fresh Oyster comes with Japanese like of sauce for Sashimi. Pinot Gris taste sweet. Staffs are energetic, helpful. In short, cool place.

I have been wanting to try this place for ages. Finally got some time and a reservation. Very professional team from reservations, to bar and wait staff. Menu essentially designed to share. We left it up to the waitress to feed us, leaving room for dessert. We tried the first entree on the menu - name escapes me but it... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
