Upon opening our doors in 2009, we were thrilled to receive the The Age Good Food Guide's 'HatAward' and have maintained it ever since. Complementing these achievements, we are very proud of Head Sommelier, Travis Howe, who not only won Sommelier of the Year but also picked up the 2013 Wine List of the Year. Nestled in one of Melbourne's iconic laneways (basement Oliver Lane, and Flinders Lane), Coda is located in the busiest and most dynamic culinary precinct the city has to offer. A stone's throw away from the Yarra River, Flinders Street station and Federation Square, the restaurant enjoys hosting a diverse group of diners from frequenting locals who live and work on its doorstep to diners…

What a place, if you to see how good modern asian can be go here. These guys are resetting the bar here. Sit at the bar and watch some the best fine dining cooked in front of you. Amazing wine list and great Somme
We were lucky to be able to return to Coda before further shutdowns
Even with mandatory reduction in diners the service was first class, friendly and attentive
The food lived up to its reputation with a wonderful blend of textures and tastes. Certainly nothing disappointed...More
Beautiful food and lovely service. Can't wait to come back to Melbourne next month. Had a quiet lovely dinner in beautiful calming setting that is some time needed after a long day of business engagements. Will always be my first spot for business dinner. Perfect.
Ate as a group of six. That allowed us to choose many dishes to share which gave a broad view across the offerings. No dish disappointed. Some stood out (see below). Great guidance on wine and the Armagnac is outstanding.
Definitely will go again but...More
Came here with my partner for our anniversary. Had big expectations having seen the restaurant on TV and reading other reviews. We were greeted by a lovely female member of staff who had us sit at the bar while our table was prepared. We had...More
I have been to CODA a few times now (probably on the verge of over doing it but YOLO) and each time I try something I didn't get around to trying last time. The all time favourite will always be the betel leaf kingfish ceviche...More
Hit and miss. Great location and staff were very good. Half of our dishes were really good but one dish was undercooked and another just not up to standard compared to other dishes. Heard great things about Coda but was a little
This is a fantastic dining space, with a warehouse feel, modern and creative. The staff are excellent, extremely attentive but not intrusive. Good sense of humour demonstrated by our waiter, Ryan, and informative with the menu. All the food was excellent but the standouts for...More
Great food, staff and venue. There is no ‘feed me’ option and we were too busy talking to look at the menu so the waitress offered to order for us and it was delicious and just enough food. Approx 6 courses, a cocktail each and...More

Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air
of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
Trendy. It's a smart place but casual. Not dressy but trendy. Some of this will depend on your age. I went with my two sons 37 and 40. I wore a jacket with jeans but then I'm a little older. Not sure if this helps at all... More

I had no problem with the way the food looked, so a photo wouldn't help. It was very well presented. It was the way the flavours worked ... or more disappointingly, didn't. But then again, I am often disappointed by restaurants. We eat too well at home. My upbringing was Asian food, so I probably have higher expectations than most. If I hadn't read rave reviews before going, it might have been a different story. The food was fine ... just not outstanding. But the great thing is we are all entitled to like what we like, and my taste buds and yours may enjoy different flavours. Just passing on my experience, for what it's worth. I'm glad you had a better one :)
