The food was fantastic, the service was great, I was there with a group function, unfortunately my dessert never came out and we had to leave for the footy so was a bit disappointed. Otherwise everything else was great

We went to Taxi Kitchen for dinner before going to the theatre. The service was really welcoming and we were asked what time we had to leave so that we could leisurely get to the theatre. We were offered really great pre theatre dinner package including a glass of wine. On this occasion we decided to select from the regular... More

Visited Taxi Kitchen last Friday on a cold and rainy Melbourne evening to celebrate my partner's birthday. We opted for the degustation menu, but chose our own wine. Every course was marvellous and enjoyable. The innovation and imagination used in creating each dish was obvious. The 'Happy Birthday' script written in chocolate sauce on my partner's dessert plate just topped... More

Taxi Kitchen is a great place to eat with contemporary dishes to suit all palettes. Chef does a great job in presentation and the duck is to die for. Service is excellent and can cater for a quick exit. Highly recommend

The crew of Simon,Mylane & Flo were supper. We went To Hestons restaurant( Dinner) the night before & were disappointed at the cost for the amount of food and the outrageous wine prices. So went back to Taxi at the Transport bar where we we got a 6 coarse $95 meal. Outstanding food, wine & service. Thanks

The food was very average and very expensive expecally for what we got.. We had to get additonal food afterwards because we were not at all satisfied. But on the up side, service was fantastic!

Just visit! That's all I need say. The food was amazing. Fresh, generous serving size packed full of flavour. Every bite was amazing. The duck has to be one of the best I've eaten. If you can fit it in, experience one of the amazing deserts. The vibe of the restaurant was friendly with fun, knowledgable waiters. Seriously. JUST DO... More

We arrived at Taxi during peak hour on a Saturday night. They squeezed us in without a booking. The only thing that matched the terrific service was the fantastic flavoursome foods. Very highly recommend!

Description
For a 180 degree view of Melbourne's city skyline, Yarra River and Arts Precinct, journey to Taxi Kitchen in Federation Square's Transport Hotel. Hosting cocktail events, a la carte dining, pre-show drinks and boasting three private function dining rooms, Taxi Kitchen dazzles guests with views through floor to ceiling glass windows complemented by earthy tones, indoor greenery and natural light for a clean, semi-alfresco feel. Playful menu items provoke a certain inquisitiveness of guests, charmingly presented on a bed of black pebbles, rustic wooden boards or in colourful, textured dishes. Delight in any or all six courses from seared scallops with red radish, smoked chilli mayo and katiafi to Wagyu porterhouse with creamed potato and jus gras - just be sure to leave room for dessert

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
