We had the 6 course chef's selection. We were able to swap over one of the courses that we didn't eat which was great. We eat a lot of this type of food so were expecting some high quality, tasty dishes. Not to say the food wasn't good, because it was but we didn't rave about it and for that... More

My husband and I had dinner before a show at the Forum on Saturday night. Although Taxi Kitchen has been operating for some time, we had never been - and that's a shame because this place really delivers. Courteous, unpretentious service was the first thing we noticed. Being offered tap water as the default was also refreshing; we're getting a... More

Had Friday night dinner here on the recommendation from a friend. Loved it, great atmosphere and view. The service was prompt, knowledgeable, friendly and efficient. The duck was a standout but everything was great. Our only disappointment was we were too full for dessert. Would definitely recommend this place

Taxi Kitchen really surprised me. First class service (really felt like a guest), excellent food, from an interesting menu. Would definitely go again.

Taxi Kitchen is a great place for a business dinner or family special occasion. Not cheap, but the food is exquisite and never fails to impress.

Pretty expensive for what you get. Everything had a lot of sauce on it. It wasn't terrible, but not great. I'd find another place, Melbourne has better options

Taxi Jaffles appears to be a part of yet apart from the Taxi Kitchen as it is across Federation Square from TK. Stopped by to get somethings Ng to eat and wasn't too sure what the food would've like but was surprised at their juicy burger and wagyu beef dish that we ordered. Pumpkin soup was hot and nourishing with... More

I'm fortunate enough to live in the CBD and visit a number of resturants so I'm going to compare Taxi to what else is available, overall it's gets an average score when I consider service, quality of food and location, yes the food was good and the waitress was very knowledgeable but when I add the price vs other restaurants... Great menu with some exciting choices such as wild Mushroom & Chesnutt Ravioli. You can also change entrée dishes such as the Pumpkin and Almond Tortellini to a main. A bit pricy but worth it.

Description
For a 180 degree view of Melbourne's city skyline, Yarra River and Arts Precinct, journey to Taxi Kitchen in Federation Square's Transport Hotel. Hosting cocktail events, a la carte dining, pre-show drinks and boasting three private function dining rooms, Taxi Kitchen dazzles guests with views through floor to ceiling glass windows complemented by earthy tones, indoor greenery and natural light for a clean, semi-alfresco feel. Playful menu items provoke a certain inquisitiveness of guests, charmingly presented on a bed of black pebbles, rustic wooden boards or in colourful, textured dishes. Delight in any or all six courses from seared scallops with red radish, smoked chilli mayo and katiafi to Wagyu porterhouse with creamed potato and jus gras - just be sure to leave room for dessert

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
