We arrived into Melbourne late Friday and found this place, the food was pretty tasty, I have had better Italian but the service was outstanding but upon paying with debit card I thought it was a bit cheeky for "tip amount" to be the first choice!!

My collegues have known about this place for over 10 years and i had worked nearby and had not heard of it. The service and food were both exquisite but encountered a touch of bill shock after ordering off the specials board which didn't list prices. Great experience, just expensive for a quick lunch.

There is no doubt this place serves good food, but having to pay $100 for what I consider an ordinary meal for one is way way too expensive. Service was excellent, but don't come here for a value for money meal.

LOVE this place. Food fresh, plenty variety, good size servings and amazing staff. The prawn ravioli is the best I have had. Thoroughly enjoyed the flavours and they didn't over power the prawns. The cassata dessert was SENSATIONAL - a must to finish of the meal. I won't leave it so long next time A must visit

Whilst we don't manage to visit this restaurant as frequently as we'd like, it remains our favourite. Friends from interstate insist on visiting SUD with us each time they visit Melbourne. The food is outstanding, always freshly delicious and what can we say about the lovely Vincenzo. Always the epitome of professionalism and manners, not to mention the fact that... More

Great Italian food, wine and service for a Friday lunch just before Christmas with good friends. The Limoncello with dessert was just right.

Nice place in a weird location but highly recommend this place. The food was really nice and fresh. The service was good and it all came out promptly. Loved the wine we had and overall I am glad I tried this little place. Must try. Some of the nicer food Italian food I have enjoyed.

This was the first time we had visited Sud, even though we have probably walked past it a hundred times! Service was attentive and engaging, wine list very extensive and the food? Bellissimo! Not a very big establishment, which made it all the more enjoyable and allowed the wait staff to actually talk to the diners as if they were... More

First visit to this traditional Italian restaurant for lunch and was very impressed with the food and service. Zucchini fritters as an entree and pork and duck meatballs for the main was delicious and extremely filling. Would very happily recommend this restaurant to others and will be back!

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
