First visit to this traditional Italian restaurant for lunch and was very impressed with the food and service. Zucchini fritters as an entree and pork and duck meatballs for the main was delicious and extremely filling. Would very happily recommend this restaurant to others and will be back!

Aye here recently and cannot fault the restaurant. A wonderful warm welcome and charming waiters. Not just me but to all guests. If I lived here. This would become a régular haunt of mine. Delicious food. Well cooked and presented and beautiful wines. I would like to think I'd return here. Some of the other patrons were regulars and I... More

There were 6 of us and we had a great night. The restaurant had been recommended by several friends and we all enjoyed the evening. The food and wine has an Italian bias but also involved fresh local and interstate produce and Australian wines. The waiters were excellent and guided our wine and food choices. Gluten free was no problem... More

Hidden away behind a red door on King Street lies a fantastic little authentic Italian restaurant. I was invited as part of a business meeting and it didn't disappoint. From the amazing starters and mains, crumbed sardines, roasted quails and beef ravioli to the on point risotto. The service was fantastic, engaging, entertaining and fast. The ambience was warm and... More

We headed to Sud for lunch as it was in our Entertainment Guide and close to the end of town we had to visit. The area of King street where it is situated does not look very inviting but the minute we entered the restaurant we knew we had made the right decision. It only holds about 45 diners and... More

Recently I took a friend of mine along to Sud for lunch and I'm so pleased I did. I had been there several months ago and really enjoyed it then and enjoyed it again this time. My friend and I are small eaters so we shared the zucchini fritters and canneloni and wow, just beautiful. The canneloni just melted in... More

As a group of 10 we dined at Sud Food & Wine last Friday night and the experience was outstanding. From the moment you arrive you are made very welcome and service was outstanding over the 3 hours we spent at the restaurant. My duck meatballs entree and fillet of red emperor were both perfect and all of us enjoyed... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
