As we wandered up Bourke St, we saw this little "Spaghetti Tree" Restaurant, close to our hotel. It reminded us of the Spaghetti House restaurants in USA & Canada....My Husband had the Marinara, said it was really nice, and I had my normal, Lasagna...I was a bit disappointed, as there seem to be a lot of Pasta sheets, with only... Up along Burke Street, you'll find a cosy warm, thoughtfully lit, welcoming restaurant worth trying. It's called the Spaghetti tree. A quaint ambience and relaxed atmosphere is apparent the moment you walk in. A waiter notices you, smiles, checks your booking, and ushers you gently along to your seat. You feel you are in good hands. You feel valued -... More

We dropped in after a movie looking for a quick light meal, we were greeted at the door with a friendly welcome and invited to sit where we liked. Our server was lovely she took our order and was obliging and made us feel as though nothing was a trouble. We had drinks and bruschetta which was delicious, fresh and... More

We had been meaning to try this place for a while as it usually has a good crowd. Same for the Tuesday night we went. Unfortunately my cannelloni was Luke warm and I sent it back. When returned, hot, the waiter told me the chef said previously the dish was hot enough. Seriously? I would not send it back if... More

We had a group of 15 adults and from the moment we walked in we knew it would be a great night. The atmosphere was welcoming, the staff excellent and very focused on us having a great meal. Every meal was finished and not an easy task for a large group. The price very reasonable and we would go back... More

Initially we were excited by the traditional feel of the venue. Disappointment quickly followed as our super fast order was delivered. We soon discovered why it was so fast, the cannelloni and tortellini resembled a very cheap microwave dinner but tasted much worse. The Cannelloni description on the menu differed in reality as it lacked bechemel sauce, ham or egg... More

Although this is a huge restaurant over 2 levels, you may still need to book on a weekend as people attending the Theatre in the area pretty much fill it up. Even a early dinner is packed full! Our meals took ages to come unfortunately as they were really busy but they did give us a free garlic bread to... More

We ate here last night and walked in without a reservation. After ordering drinks at the bar, we were seated quite quickly. The staff were very friendly and our meals came out quickly. Not the best Italian we've had in Melboune, but was tasty and filling meals.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
