We were wondering around looking for places to dine and came upon The Spaghetti Tree by chance. Inside it is much bigger than expected and the staff are geared to serving guests trying to get to a Show in time. This appears to be a great service. However, other diners are also looked after very well. The servings are very... More

The Spaghetti Tree is the kind of restaurant that exceeds your first impression. For one, it looks small from the outside, but once you've entered you realise that it is in fact very spacious. The same goes with the food. At first glance, the menu offers a typical selection of dishes commonly offered in this type of restaurant, but only... More

Staying in Melbourne is always a delight after 20 years interstate. But with the proliferation of hotels and the reputation as a foodie and arts paradise, it can be hard to know where to go - and be anxious about finding a quiet spot So a recent visit with my elderly father from the UK saw us searching for somewhere... Really nice restaurant. Quirky decor, eclectic mix of music and a good menu, basically Italian cuisine but not exclusively so. Great wine selection, a very good Pinot Noir served at a very good temperature. Very generous portions, far too much food for one person, lots of waste :( Would recommend

Many years ago, groups of us would meet up at the Spaghetti tree for a casual dinner after work. So for a small reunion we went back. Nothing much had changed but this is a good thing. We all bought our own drinks at the bar as we went along…..as splitting a complex bill would have been difficult. The service... More

It takes a lot for me to complain, especially as the food (lasagna ,garlic bread and mixed salad )arrived very quickly . It was Luke warm . I pointed this out to the waitress and asked for a hot meal and replacement garlic bread ( which was warm at the time but needed to be that when I ate the... More

When meeting someone in the city for a meal, I invariably suggest The Spaghetti Tree. An oldie but a goodie! It's pretty central and easy to find. The service is good, staff are friendly and it's value for money cuisine. I've been dining there for many years now and although the decor has never changed, the atmosphere is cosy and... More

Saturday night in Melbourne found us at the Spaghetti Tree in Bourke Street. We had a lovely bottle of wine and I had a lamb dish which was delicious. My husbands meal was wonderful too, though I can't remember what he had. We did share a Sticky Date pudding which was drool worthy. I love the Spaghetti Tree and we... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Chinatown
Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude a sense of Imperial China stemming from immigration over a century ago. In restaurant after restaurant on Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving up age-old recipes. The lighting may be unromantic, the patrons loud, and the service no-nonsense, but the food is sensational.
