Always a delight to visit this incredibly busy but informal restaurant. You'll need to book a table for the popular Sunday Yum Cha and even then you'll have to wait and maybe even get a table upstairs (take the lift) where you'll eat very close to the other Mandarin speaking diners all enjoying the excellent food. Normal Yum Cha routine,... More

Visited this place often during my school years in Melbourne 26yrs ago. It is nestled within Chinatown with 2 restaurants. One in the upper street & another on the lower end. Made a visit with my family for afternoon dim sum & the food never ever let me down. The seafood dumpling soup is one of the best I had... More

We visited Shark Fin House in August with family & friends (6 adults & 2 children) for dinner. We ordered a variety of dishes to share. They were all outstanding and the suckling pig dish was a particular highlight! The service was friendly & efficient which was particularly appreciated given how busy it was. We would have given Shark Fin... More

We were seated straight away which being such a busy place we were very happy with as we had heard great things about this restaurant. We were greeted at our table with Sherman and he suggested the steamed boat and some king scallops. The steamed boat was some abalone and thinly sliced wagu beef. It is served with two steaming... Hit the yum cha after a big night on the town and was rewarded by great seafood yum Cha - the tofu and scallops was great as was the gyoza and prawn wonton. Green tea washed it all down well. My second time here and I'll be back.

No complaints. Had a good experience and enjoyed the food. Service was good even during what seemed to be a busy period. Was also able to order from menu.

Shark Fin House yum Cha has one of the best variety- need to order from the kitchen if you want something they don't have on their trolleys and the chef will make from scratch so you know the food is fresh! Actually quite reasonably priced compared with other restaurants in city. Service has always been excellent and waitresses try to... More

Well, we love yum Cha, and this Restraurant has successfully ruined it for us, more specifically, one waiter(or maitre'd) did. He's 30ish with glasses. PEOPLE, AVOID HIM. They honestly have good food, one of the best yum Cha places we've been to. And we've been to a lot. And the most of their staffs are not as bossy and rude... More

We were looking for a place in Chinatown to have a yum cha brunch and walked the whole strip before we went back to this place as it appeared to be only one of a few to be open. We got a table straight away, ate until we popped (and we were hungry) and it only cost us $46.00 including... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Chinatown
Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude a sense of Imperial China stemming from immigration over a century ago. In restaurant after restaurant on Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving up age-old recipes. The lighting may be unromantic, the patrons loud, and the service no-nonsense, but the food is sensational.
