Everything on the menu is super tasty. Make sure you get the beef cheeks. I normally just ask them to keep feeding me until I tell them to stop. Takes the stress out of choosing - first world problems.

Popped in with friends for a quick bite for lunch... three of us... one gluten intolerant, one a gluten/dairy intolerant vegetarian... and me. All catered for without any fuss or bother. Delicious morsels. Serves will not satisfy the hungry farmer... but we're perfect for lunch.

Upon our arrival we we're seated and the experience began! We were shown the menu, askes if we want tap or sparkling water and again the wait staff were very polished and knowledgeable about the menu. We ordered the sangria and a house beer, both were lovley. We were explained how to order as the tapas comes as a single... More

Really interesting tapas, very knowledgeable and friendly staff, not too pricey, but wine list wasn't full of value wines. The tapas are individual portions so you need to order a bit more, but it makes it more interesting! Great atmosphere and location highly recommended!

I've heard good things about Movida and it didn't disappoint! The menu had a selection of bite sized tapas as well as larger options. I had a few items from the tapas menu as well as a cured ocean trout salad. Everything was perfectly executed and the menu was quite inventive. I particularly enjoyed the hint of honey in the... Movida is absolutely delish! All of the tapas were outstanding and it's a very cool and hip spot in a very fun little area. Located on Hosier Lane, which is known for it's graffiti wall art, there is just a very cool vibe all-around the restaurant. It is also very centrally located and easy to get too. The only down-side... More

Love this place, each time - we are in Melbourne, to duck into the lane way and all of a sudden disappear into the Movida, restaurant and receive a menu that will challenge your tastebuds in a good way.

I have allergy to the yeast (which is in bread, mushrooms, vinegar)and I couldn't find anything suitable for me to eat..Everything had vinegar.Even the waiter was surprised (unpleasantly)that he couldn't recommend me any dish.. I'm very happy for my husband -he did enjoyed but I left hungry.Which means we won't be back.

Had a great experience with the 1st time. All the tapas are quite delicate and the sangaria and wine are outstanding too. Definitely come back again.

When we opened the doors to MoVida in Hosier lane, Melbourne in 2003 no one knew what to expect. Here was this little bar on a graffiti covered cobbled lane near the

cathedral serving Spanish tapas and shared plates in a down lit room playing funky tunes.

It's the kind of place you can come in for a beer and a jamon croquetta at the bar and then move across to a table and share a plate of slow

braised lamb, some patatas a lo pobre and down some seriously good Spanish red wine.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
