Movida is the perfect place to mix and socialise with a group of friends and try different foods without committing to a single plate. The atmosphere here is always buzzing from the graffiti lane way to jugs of sangria.

I've visited MoVida quite a few times and am consistently impressed. Both MoVida and MoVida Next Door are great venues, the decor and vibe is just right with Next Door being a little more casual in feel. I can't go past the tapas especially the Anchoa with smoked tomato sorbet. This time I also had the plankton flavoured Arroz which... More

Heavenly Tapas and dishes to satiate the most demanding of palates. The menu is as unique as there could possibly be, and created with an amazing attention to detail that is of the highest possible order. Not a lot of sunlight coming in through the windows if you are there mid day, but the ambience and internal lighting is great... More

I have been to MoVida about 5 times now at the Hosier lane and off Williams St restaurants and have never been disappointed. The friends I take love it. Worth trying one of each of the tappas and sharing them with a friend with a jug of cold Sangria on a warm day...just perfect But plenty on the menu such... More

A good authentic Spanish food especially the tapas. Fresh and good quality food. The Movida Aqui is too compact for a bigger group. Not allow you to book or RSVP. Overall the food is good and worth it to try,

We had lunch at MoVida yesterday and really enjoyed it. It needs to be understood that it is a tapas place...but a very good one . The tables are close together but in some way that adds to the atmosphere. There is a great range of really good and tasty tapas. We would go again and would recommend .

Movida is an all time favourite restaurant in Melbourne. Cannot fault the food, I always order the beef cheek and it is the bees knees. We also ordered the pork belly and it was cooked to perfection. Only suggestion I would have is for the staff to pay more attention to new customers. We were sitting and waiting for 20... More

Absolutely amazing restaurant. Almost tried all of the tappas because they all provide such awesome culinary delights. The staff were so helpful and friendly that it made the experience even better. Waitress named Renae was a star and so knowledgeable about all dishes. Most fave restaurant in Melbourne.

Mum and I went back here and enjoyed a couple of individual tapas and two shared plates. The individual portions were tasty but a little expensive, the shared plates were delicious. We shared a house special (king George whiting) and the beef cheeks. The service was excellent. Recommended, you might like to book!

Description
When we opened the doors to MoVida in Hosier lane, Melbourne in 2003 no one knew what to expect. Here was this little bar on a graffiti covered cobbled lane near the

cathedral serving Spanish tapas and shared plates in a down lit room playing funky tunes.

It's the kind of place you can come in for a beer and a jamon croquetta at the bar and then move across to a table and share a plate of slow

braised lamb, some patatas a lo pobre and down some seriously good Spanish red wine.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
