What a great night we had at La Camera. Great wait staff who were very friendly and made us feel very welcome. Cocktails were well received and the waitress had a good knowledge and recommendations. Pasta was great and nicely presented. Would definitely recommend this restaurant!

I doubt you'll ever get a bad meal here, but you won't get a great one either. The food was okay, although the seafood risotto was far too salty and three of the party had this as a Main. They didn't have the Pinot Gris they were advertising and the market fish one of the party ordered had sold out... More

The food here is average at best! The owner is very rude, a simple request in relation to the food received an abusive response! NEVER again!

After learning the chef cannot cook a risotto from scratch, I decided to order the chicken Parma hoping for a nice chicken fillet. I was wronged.

There are so many fabulous restaurants in the chapel street area. This was certainly not one of them. My " homemade" gnocchi really tasted like packet gnocchi with a very average tasting tomato sauce. The pumpkin ravioli was gluggy, bland and I think the pumpkin must have left the building before it was presented. This may have been a fabulous... More

I honestly have never been to such a badly run restaurant, I started to expect I was actually in an episode of Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen nightmares and the producers had set this ineptness up - alas it was not and they did all this themselves. We were greeted by a manager in a friendly way but from this point it... More

My wife and I dined here last Saturday night, a good little restaurant with good attentive staff. We arrived about 9pm and all was good at ordering at that time. My wife had the Risotto and was very impressed whilst I had a pizza which to be honest was only ordinary. The wine list was good and reasonably priced. I... More

I always eat here when in Melbourne. They offer Italian cuisine that is unpretentious and delicious. I had the swordfish special and it was cooked to perfection. Obviously very fresh and simply garnished. Great service, this restaurant remains a firm favourite!

We had a wonderful lunch at La Camera on a cold and windy day, basking in the warmth of the enclosed patio. As we entered I saw a delicious-looking dish of tortellini go by, so that's what we ordered. Since we weren't famished we shared the tortellini in cream sauce with mushrooms ($22.90), lovely green beans, broccoli, and zucchini sautéed... More

Staying in Chapel Street

Neighborhood Profile
Chapel Street
Seek and ye shall find! Prahran is a treasure hunter’s paradise of vintage stores, upscale boutiques and emporiums. Chapel Street is a one-stop shop with specialty stores selling just about everything. The famous Chapel Street Bazaar has so many curious and vintage knick-knacks that you will feel as if you're in a huge and busy museum. By contrast, at the northern end of Chapel Street, South Yarra and Windsor cater to high-end designer labels and exclusive boutiques. The community flocks to Prahran’s organic markets as a Saturday ritual, while art and film students leaf through vinyl LPs on Greville Street. The gay community also has a strong presence here. Prahran’s heritage buildings like the Reads Emporium and Prahan arcade offer a grand sense of scale and history. No matter your interest, come feel the pulse of one of Melbourne’s most loved precincts.
