When dining with a group of people, it's often difficult to find a venue where everyone's happy with the food. At Grossi Grill all enjoyed a three course meal and all of us loved each course. I particularly enjoyed the 'Black Pudding Crocchette with Italian Slaw' and the 'Pappardelle, Duck Porcini' was outstanding. Our desserts were also delicious. Wine as... More

Not my first visit, but after tonight my LAST. Entrees watch overpriced, ie 4 pieces of calamari $32...... Don't bother with the fav bean dip, just blah. Duck pasta, too oily Steaks at $60 each, both so full of fat and grisel One of the fish all bones One of our steak diners was offered a complimentary dessert, who choose... More

As a visitor to Melbourne for just the weekend, we really wanted to enjoy a special dinner, so decided to go to Grossi florentino. So sorry that we did. I started the meal with squid in black ink, the portion was tiny and practically raw. For main I had ricotta and spinach ravioli that was like cardboard. The salad was... More

A group of friends and I had a recent lunch at Grossi Florentino Grill (Not be be confused with Grossi Forentino which is upstairs in the same building...altho both owned by Guy Grossi). I used to eat here frequently, but since the recent revamp, something has happened. Prices have gone way up...3 prawns for $46 as a Main??? I don't... More

I love Grossi Florentino. The service. The style. The menu is diverse and inviting. If you love food, this is a must visit when in Melbourne. We dined at the Grill (downstairs) which is smart and sophisticated yet still casual. No tie or jacket but dress for impressing. For entree... the calamari was a hit, the scallops amazing (large and... More

Excellent service, beautiful meals, incredible wine list. We chose from the three course menu which was supplemented with little additional treats throughout. As we had eaten our fill we didn't purchase dessert so we were provided with a small and delicious treat to perfectly complete a wonderful meal. Staff were friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Will definitely return when... More

With the jazz music playing in the background, the grill downstairs could well be on the upper east side of Manhattan. This Italian food stop is well worth the price tag; if you love Italian flavours, freshly prepared with a fabulous wine list to accompany your evening, look no further. The black pudding croquette is a divine start to the... More

We booked here to celebrate a birthday. Service was fantastic, extremely professional and friendly. The wine menu is extensive... the food menu not so much. We all tried different dishes and all meals were delicious. Was a fun night enjoyed by all.

There are three levels to this restaurant. The cellar bar; bistro and upstairs. The restaurant upstairs is the most expensive; each area has a different menu. The second (street level) has a slightly less expensive menu and the basement level is the cheapest option. That's not to say that the quality of food is decreased due to price. You are... More

We arrived early for lunch and although the restaurant was very busy we were seated with a no fuss as if we were on-time. Wait staff were very attentive & were helpful with meal suggestions & wine selections. Although the restaurant was very busy we were served in a very timely manner. The GARGANELLE CON SALSICCIA (Pork Sausage Ragu) was... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Chinatown
Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude a sense of Imperial China stemming from immigration over a century ago. In restaurant after restaurant on Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving up age-old recipes. The lighting may be unromantic, the patrons loud, and the service no-nonsense, but the food is sensational.
